What Resolution For Clearer Image?

Should I be looking at 640*480 resolution for a reasonably clear image from around 20m using a 4-9mm lens? PVR card I'm using defaults to 320*240 which I can upgrade to the higher resolution but will it make a significant difference? I'm finding at the moment that features (e.g. facial) aren't real clear at that distance with the lens in telephoto mode.

This is the card which can do 640*480 given a suitable CPU.

The camera is using a Sony EXview 1/3" ccd chip.

I'm restricted to 320*240 because of the older P4 processor I'm using but will an ability to use 640*480 make much of a difference?
