Veritas r8- i cant change password,why??

Hi......help!

my new house has a veritas r8,i requested a new manual but upon following the instructions to change the password it wont accept it!

The zone lights dont come on as i enter the new code and it doesnt chime then on entering PROG.I then press RESET but it still keeps the old code.

I start by entering code and then PROG and then 60.

Can anyone help please?

There are 2 versions of the R8 , and they changed about 1999.The instructions for both are on the Texecom website.The old version is below:

enter your code * * * *

enter 0,0.

enter 0,1.

enter new code * * * *

press prog

press reset
