i suppose it will be a while before its in a kernel of use!

The use of dedicated DSPs of this power and complexity are just beginning to gather pace but the first of the series has been around a few years so quite a few devices already using the technology - including some DVR cards.

You may be interested to note that the DaVinci technology TI use for the chips is Linux based (MontaVista Linux)

Some bright spark must have been given the job of writing 'The DaVinci Code' :P

If you do an Ebay search, you'll find a guy selling American Dynamics Digimux units. They are B stock but at least they are a professional grade DVR and you can get one for a non branded price.
