Set the alarm as normal before leaving for work.

During the day there was a general power cut in our area, power came back shortly afterwards.

On return home the system was off, power lights show on the control panel and box. No response

from any buttons. (I have changed the battery a couple of years ago so don't think thats a problem).

Can anyone suggest anything?

Most likely battery could not support the demand and caused the panel to crash - needing a full power off restart.

Possible also that the mains fail/restore has caused corruption in the main processor - recommend an engineer to visit and check.
