  1. Great idea, thanks for the tip. Shops are open till 4 so plenty of time yet. Already got the missus her bottle of Mr Muscle general purpose and some new cleaning sponges. She complained last year because i bought her cheap Lidls stuff. Ungratefull Biatch!
  2. I have reset and set to BS. This seems to have done the trick..i can now set the system and will return after Christmas to set up user codes, voice comm etc. There is a letterbox but the postman here doesn't turn up until afternoon so generally the alarm will be unset at that time. I have also set the shock detector to minimum sensitivity. The front door is the most likely entry point for thieves and last time they smashed a hole in the door glass and climbed through. It is for this reason that i have the shock detector on the door frame in an attempt to trigger the alarm before they get in and nick the charity box again! I shall have to wait and see, and can always change things around if there is problems. Thanks very much for the advice, i really do appreciate it! S'pose I better go and start my Christmas shopping now.... Happy Christmas to all... Colin
  3. Got everything wired in today and did the 46yesno on start up. However, the alarm won't set. It's telling me "can't set" "use eng. +anti 4047" Any ideas why this has happened and what to do about it? Help much appreciated! Colin.... Zone 1 door contact set as entry/exit Zone 2 door shock sensor set as 12hour Zone 3 PIR set as 12 hour All wired '2 wire' method. The reaining 5 zones have been 'shorted' with wire links in the panel.
  4. thanks EGO... i have green and black coming in from BT...does it matter which way round? What will happen if i dont filter, will it not make the call?
  5. Can someone advise please... for the v-comm do i connect to the bt line before the master socket (this would be ideal cos have existing con box) or after the master socket gubbins? There is adsl broadband on the line but not in use when the alarm is set. Do i need a filter or wiol it be ok without? Thanks.....
  6. Thanks guys...in the end i just got myself another cpx, as i probably have a better chance of setting it up! There are still many features on this panel that i don't understand, for instance, a PGM1/2/3 which i assume can be programed to perform a task in the event of an alarm triggered. For instance, i woud like to set up some lights, or possibly a camera, which will switch on if the alarm is triggered. If anyone has the patience to tell me how to do this then please do! (i am an electrician so fitting the lights is easy, but knowing how to integrate with the alarm is not!) Also, may sound silly but what is the meaning of "un-confirmed" as opposed to "confirmed" alarm? , Colin...
  7. I installed this alarm over two years ago and all is fine, (but i didn't ever connect the dialler because there is no landline and to put one in is expensive) My neighbour owns a small cafe, and she has been broken into. I have offered to install an alarm FOC, and because having a dialler is important, I am thinking about using the same cpx panel as i am reasonably familiar with it now. My question is, is there an alternative panel with inbuilt dialler? There is only one room to protect, so i was going to use one pir and one shock sensor/contact on the entrance door. It's just that that the cpx seems a little OTT for just two zones! However, to buy a cheaper simple panel AND a seperate dialler will probably cost more... , Colin
