  1. I have a Rapid 28 cable stapler/tacker and have always used standard staples, however I'd like some stainless steel staples for a job, does anyone know where I may obtain some please? Thanks in advance for any useful information. Picture for attention (Before you ask, yes I paint all my tools with pink paint! Makes them quick to recover on building sites etc.. My cheap version of SmartWater)
  2. Before I hit the buy now buttons, can anyone confirm the following items will work with one another, then the only items I will need is sensors and bell/siren boxes? Texecom Premier Elite iProx Kit includes iProx and External Prox Reader BBC-0001 Texecom Premier Elite 24 Control Panel Metal CAA-0004 Texecom Connect SmartCom Ethernet & Wifi Communicator (no prox) CEL-0001 Texecom Ricochet Premier Elite IXP-W Expansion Pack (8XP-W) GEC-0002 Texecom Premier Elite LCDLP-W Wireless LCD Keypad GCE-0001 Thanks in advance
  3. The site issue is that its remote with the near neighbours or tarmacked road, they're over a mile away, so need it as loud as possible! If after install and not being able to hear it a couple of fields away (to the neighbours) I'll add an extra sound bomb or two LOL. Isolating the back light is not a bad idea. My reason for this choice was it claims to be louder. I'll check out the lid sizing though. Once again, thank you
  4. Thanks sixwheeledbeast for high lighting the shortfall of the CAA-0004/26 panels. Basically I forgot to add the Premier Elite 8XP-W (Part code GCD-0001). You also said "most bells will work but I wouldn't use a backlit one". What's your reason for not using a backlit unit please? I was going to mount it inside a non Texecom cover as I have several kicking around.
  5. Thanks sixwheeledbeast for your comments and they're noted. Your comment No.8 says I haven't got a wireless system. however I was led to believe CAA-0004/26 was wireless and wired. Have I been misled?
  6. I've decided to run with a new Texecom intruder alarm system, however I have a few questions. My father in law has asked Texecom, but they're a bit casual on getting back to us. Is anyone here familiar with their kit please? My questions are red in the table below.... Can I assume the two following panels are the same except for the case? Texecom Premier Elite 24 Control Panel Metal CAA-0004 Texecom Premier Elite 24 Control Panel (Plastic?) CAA-0026 Can I assume the following item is correct for the above panels Texecom Premier Elite iProx Kit includes iProx and External iProx Reader BBC-0001 Can I assume the following reader is to have an additional reader once the above iProx has been installed? Texecom External IProx Reader Access Control BBB-0001 Will I need to order the following Tags, or are some included with the iProx Kit? Texecom Premier Elite Proximity Tags (Pack of 5) CDB-0001 Is the following item correct for the Texecom Premier Elite 24 Control Panel? Texecom Connect SmartCom Ethernet & Wifi Communicator CEL-0001 Is the following item correct for the Texecom Premier Elite 24 Control Panel? Texecom Premier Elite Standard LCD Remote Keypad DBA-0001 Texecom Premier Elite LCDL Large Screen Remote Keypad DBB-0001 Presumably I won't need this if I have the BBC-001 iProx kit? Texecom Premier Elite LCDLP Large Screen & Proximity Remote Keypad DBD-0002 Are the following items correct for the Texecom Premier Elite 24 Control Panel? Texecom Ricochet Wireless Micro Door Contact Midnight Black GHA-0014 Texecom Odyssey X-BE Grade 2 Sounder with Integral Backlight WDC-0001 Premier Odyssey X-BE External Sounder Backplate c/w Backlight Louder! WDC-0002 Are the following detectors correct for the Texecom Premier Elite 24 Control Panel? Texecom Ricochet Impaq SC-W VIBER Wireless Shock and Contact White GJA-0001 Texecom Ricochet Wireless P15-W Capture 15m PIR Detector GDA-0001 Texecom Ricochet Wireless Q20-W Capture 20m Quad PIR Detector GDB-0001 Pyronix Enforcer Wireless 12m Dual Technology PIR Detector KX12DT3-WE Thanks in advance for useful answers
  7. My workshop doors are not a precision fit to the frames, there's a bit of movement in the wind. All the door contacts I've seen are for well fitted domestic doors, are there any door contacts out there that have a less precision activation please? As always, thanks for any useful information and ideas
  8. I've contacted Texecom and presented them with my site issues and asked if they have something suitable.
  9. The distance between buildings as the crow flies is 25 metres. However my concern is the building where the alarm panel will be sited has been insulated with silver foil, so acts as a Faraday cage (I've already had to move the TV antenna from the loft to the outside of the building).
  10. I'm still kicking ideas around. I want to have the intruder alarm with CCTV recorder in one building, then in another where the CCTV cameras, some PIR's and door switches. Extending the network via a wireless bridge for the CCTV cameras is easy enough, but not sure how to overcome trying to send signals back to the other building from the intruder detectors (without cables). Is there a box of tricks to convert the on/off signals from the intruder detectors via the wireless bridge and back to on/off signals for the intruder alarm? Or is there such a system out there for CCTV and intruder alarms all inside the same box using the network system? As usual, thanks in advance for any useful information
  11. Back to choice again... Thought I'd look at Hikvision, however very few retailers, though lots of wholesalers. Also looked at... Swann via Screwfix/Toolstation. City Electrical has 3 different makes ESP, Yale and Facina. Discountcctvsupplier has DAHUA, HIKVISION and HILOOK BY HIKVISION. Found two sites who seem to be owned by one another, these being Domar.aka Zxtech. I did email both companies with different questions over a week ago and got no reply, so I think if they're that bad with a sales enquiry, they'll be just as bad if something goes wrong! Lorex Security Products Which should I definitely avoid? Thanks once more for any support
  12. What is the advantage of using CAT6 cable over CAT5 for an IP camera system please" Also at what sort of length run should I be concerned about voltage drop please? I don't think my runs will exceed 40, possibly 50 metres? Again to run IP cameras. Thanks again for any useful comments
  13. Re: Zxtech Onyx 16 Channel 8-PoE Ports 8MP 4K CCTV High Definition Network Recorder What is thi circled terminal block for please? ...There's no mention of it in the instruction that I've found, hence asking. Thanks again for any useful comments
  14. Be nice please. There seems to be numerous Wireless CCTV kits on the UK market, and loads more elsewhere. Who do you advise to run with and who should I really avoid please? I'm probably looking at 4 cameras (with room for expansion on the recorder). I've not yet seen any kits with a camera door bell, whats the best route for this please? As usual, thanks in advance for any useful information
  15. Thanks everyone. I think the answer is to run with a wireless bridge/ubiquiti bridge.
