  1. Just to complete this thread, tested the wiring this morning and it was just the single core to the TR terminal that was broken. Fortunately it was 8 core cable so managed to use a spare core and once wired back up all faults cleared. Appreciate I still need to investigate what caused the break but I can sort that when I have more time and get better access. Didn't realise bell choice could be so controversial ? but will change that out at the same time as the wiring Thanks for all the replies and advice given, it made the job a lot easier than I feared!
  2. Thanks, makes sense and for the price of a bell not worth messing about
  3. The bell battery is a bit suspect, was surprised that with the bell box open and ringing, disconnecting the H+ lead stopped it, I assumed some sort of battery backup should have kicked in? Didn't check to see what sort of batteries it took but will swap them out if I can.
  4. Thanks again for the info Jumper from TR to 0V at the panel clears the fault, tried jumpering the TR to H- (presumably this is 0V) at the bellbox and fault remains so guessing there is an issue with the cable. Can't be a complete break as power still getting to bellbox as when I disconnect the H+ terminal bell stops ringing. To try and confirm that it's just an individual core (or possibly more) I intend to 'pair' the cables up at one end and test continuity at the other - does that sound sensible? Hopefully if it's just one core broken I think there will be a spare one I can utilise as only 5 cores out of the 6 are used. Pyronix bell looks as good as any to me, so probably will go with one of those if needed.
  5. Really appreciate you guys taking the time to help with this When you say loop the tamper what do I loop the tamper to? Do you mean I just 'jumper' the TR wire to 0V? Thanks
  6. Thanks guys, guess the obvious thing to check is continuity of the cable and if that's OK invest in new bell box. Are bell boxes generic or would I need a specific make\model, any suggestions of what to get. Thanks
  7. Hi, our Scantronic 9853 alarm went off last night, put in the user code to stop it and it came up with a BELL TAMPER message on the display and I could not set the alarm again. Tried going into installer mode but when it came out again the same BELL TAMPER message appeared. This morning I took the lid off the panel to check for loose wires etc but all looked OK, however the anti tamper alarm didn't sound but assumed this was because the alarm wasn't set and had the tamper messaeg displayed. I also opened up the bell box and the anti tamper did kick in so that appears to be working OK but I now have BELL TAMPER and LID TAMPER messages on the display and can't seem to clear them, also noticed that the other keypads have a BUSY message on them. I'm hoping that the alarm triggered by some random event and it will all be OK after a reset but any ideas on what I need to do to clear the tamper messages to enable me to be able to set the alarm again? Thanks
