  1. Anyone got a v4.39 or thereabout PROM or PROM image for a Galaxy 500 - still interested - I use it as a test rig and want to add a MAX4 so need later firmware. Thanks.
  2. I have just installed a Max4 in standalone mode and it is working well reading tags etc. If a tag gets lost or stolen how do I eliminate it from the system (the Max4 is in standalone mode)? I realise that I may have to void all the user tags and enter them again - this is OK but I cannot see how to do this. Section 7 of the Installation Instructions touches on this but it is not clear on how to do this. The text reads: Old non-valid tags/cards must be voided from the memory of the Max4. The Void Master serves to clear all old tags, freeing up space and maintaining a secure environment. The box says: - Tags can be voided from the memory in case of loss. How does one do this? It must be possible or the system is fatally flawed. Thanks.
  3. Have a Galaxy 500 which is powered by a Galaxy Smart PSU P015. I want to configure the RIO address but cannot get the system to recognise it. The led flashes on and off slowly indicating that it has power etc but is not configured into the system. The installation instructions for a RIO are to set the address on the rotary preset then power on the RIO with the system in Engineer Mode. I have done this with another RIO so I know it works. However I cannot take the power off the Smart PSU RIO as to do this would power down the system - I have tried various ways of doing this and there must be a trick to it that has eluded me. How do I configure the RIO on the P015 Smart PSU into the sytem? I think I need to power off (and then on) the RIO on the Smart PSU while keeping the PSU power onto the system so that it stays in Engineer Mode. Then of course when I exit Engineer Mode it should find the added RIO and show that it has been added to the system. Anyone got any ideas or the solution? Thanks.
  4. Have a Galaxy 500 running v1.25 and would like to upgrade the firmware - I can buy or burn a PROM. Can anyone help? Thanks
  5. Thanks for the input - had changed the battery and the problem on the original 500 persisted so we got a new Galaxy 48C installed. It is true that in my shed the Galaxy 500 is only running one keypad and not the detectors for a 4 bedroom house - although that should be a pretty modest load for the mighty 500. We called the engineer about the new battery charging problem and when he came it mysteriously went away and has not returned. Any idea were I can get a firmware upgrade for the original 500 - I can burn a PROM if need be.
  6. Have got a Galaxy 500 with G500 v1.25 UK firmware. The PCB says B0077 Rev 1.6 with the 0 struck out. The PROM also has F028-01-125-P1 on it. Anyone got a later PROM or know of an upgrade path? The alarm was as good as gold for nearly 20 years then developed a battery charging fault - rest of the alarm still worked perfectly. The alarm company said it was hardware fault and we would have to have new panel. A new panel, a Galaxy Dimension 48C was fitted and within about 9 months it too has developed a battery charging problem. I kept the Galaxy 500 with a view to tracking down the charging problem, it would most likely be a straightforward(?!) power component, transistor, capacitor or diode, on a long winter evening. Set the 500 up with a keypad, 1k resistors on all the inputs, a battery and then cleared the memory with the jumper switch. With no hardware modifications at all the 500 now charges the battery and even after several power cuts, I turned off the mains, it still charges and performs perfectly. Anyone got any ideas? Is it possible that the programming of the units could be causing the charging problems and the error BATT TEST FAIL? Unlikely I know, but there is something funny happening here. Am also interested in upgrading the 500 to the latest (for this panel) firmware. Thanks, Andrew (UK)
