  1. Just spoke to a sparky in Screwfix. (well, claims to be a sparky) Claims you can supply alarm control box mains from light switch !! Surely not ????
  2. No...I meant when I purchased the house it was 90% complete. Builder would not retro wire. All internal and external walls are filled with insulation. No empty cavities.
  3. Yes new build Oct 16. Too far on when we bought to have wiring retro fitted, or I would have gone totally wired. Site agent is a nice guy but says more than his prayers. We will see what transpires.
  4. O.K. I was not asking for codes "To be posted everywhere" I texted sit agent earlier who says he will find out from alarm company for me......mind you he's not the most reliable ! Before you ask....only houses above 440k come with alarms. Not mine !
  5. James, What I am simply asking is... 1. Professional install. Can I get this mystical code once my 1 year warranty is up ? 2. Should this be DIY install, is this mystical code inside box, if not where is it ? Obviously only masonic based people make these boxes as everythings a secret !!!! Hard work.
  6. Question from wifey.......she does come up with good ones sometime ! If I buy the box from a supplier. Not installed. I own the box. How do I get the codes then, or do I just pay my cash and whistle ?
  7. Maybe worded wrong ! Can I get the codes once the years warranty is up ? Playtime !
  8. And would I be entitled to relevant codes from installer ???????
  9. Sixwheelbeast, All supplied and fitted, except decoy pyronix deltabell plus which I bought just to put up as deterrent. They are fitting it though in the price. I feel its decent.
  10. Got price today for....... All Pyronix Enforcer box. No wi - fi. Wireless door contact. 4 x PIRs. Wired external Bell box/siren. 2 Remote keyfob. Mounting my own Bellbox as decoy. 1 yr. warranty Price £450. Seems reasonable ????????? Yes/No ?
  11. Pyronix kit does not have ability to run wired bell/sounder. Is this correct ? What else (of reasonable quality) can be used with wired bell facility ? Thank you. P.S. Ardrossan does not do much for me. Ayr is good though.
  12. To those who think I am mad. I can get the system I want for £99 more than the cost of parts if I have it fitted. The cash is neither here nor nor there. When you retire, things you hated in the past become very tolerable,......believe it or not, cutting the grass. If we do nothing, we stagnate, hence the reason I would like to fit myself, though my knowledge of alarms stopped 35 years ago. Learning is good.
  13. You can probably see.....I don't do these multi quote things !!! Got that one right Mr.Happy
  14. Hi all, Old school here ! New house purchased. Now 64 years old. Like a wee project. (Note the word WEE) Pyronix kit 3 seems to be the man. But....................... Why do the makers of many of these kits take great delight in making technology that can tell you that your gaff is being screwed whilst you are on a ship in the middle of nowhere ??? Especially when no one in the street takes a blind bit of notice, nor do the police ! Nor would I after a few whiskies. What is the sense in a battery bell/sounder you have to maintain every year or two ? Get it wired. You know it makes sense ! Are remote keypads wireless ? I know someone smarter than me will give me the answer.....but for the love of me, I cannot think of one ! 2 Pyronix illuminated boxes drilled through wall to 9v supply in to mains socket is a cheap alternative ? A really serious question guys....before I decide on what to buy ? Standing against wall awaiting firing squad !!!! Thanks
  15. Many thanks to all who have taken time to reply. Having moved home from Skye back to Glasgow suburbs....(don't ask...pressure from family) I now feel the need for alarm, but bearing in mind I have not installed for 30 years now, I wonder if it best be left to a professional, though I would like to do it as a wee project. Will ask on relevant forum. Thanks for the welcome.
  16. Hi everyone, Joined after lurking for short while. Fitted alarms regularly until 30 years ago !!!! TV Engineer to trade, but alarms were more lucrative ! Will post soon re info about Deltabell plus which I am fitting to new house.
