I've only ever seen the plastic versions with a Friedland and strobe inside. AFAIK, the only metal Shorrock box was the blue metal unit, with the lock on the front of it. I think you'll do well to find someone who has kept either of those to use as a service spare I think it'd be prudent to swap it out for a new sounder as soon as so that you have a working system again.
Yeah I'm trying to keep my soon to be old shorrock system going lol

The bell box above is the one i am on about, never seen a metal one.
Yeah thats the model I'm after, I do prefer them If you've got any that are due to come down I'd be more than happy to give you my money for it

lol, when I remove it I will keep it and use it myself I do have a youtube channel as well and I make videos on alarms

Thought the Shorrock Pentagon was polycarb and they had friedland bells in them, its probably stuck needs freeing off
There is a metal pentagon shorrock to which is bigger and is 125db loud the polycarb pentagons are initial. The metal pentagon shorrock 170s have a horn siren the shorrocks that have the friendland bells in are the older blue shorrocks. But if you have any gen Shorrock boxes for replacement I'm more than delighted to come down and pick it up

I also doubt anyone
a) takes any notice of the ewd before kicking the doors in
b) if they did they would more than likely chose an old ewd over a new led riddled one.
Sorry mate the shorrock bell box that your talking about are the old 70's blue one and I do have one somewhere and I plan on repainting it as I would like to get it preserved on my wall of bell boxes

Is this your own system? At home?
It will be soon as It's on my girlfriends house who's abroad at the moment and she wants the system upgrading and she knows that I collect alarms as well as fitting them for a living. I basically work for myself and I do enjoy it

I doubt you'll find anything like that in working order and it seems a bit of an odd request, most would just replace and skip the old box.
If purely aesthetic reasons you could cobble some modern bellbox electronics into the casing, reusing the tamper switches if serviceable.
Yeah I suppose I could but firstly I'm just going to ask around to see if anyone does have one that still works. I was going to post this topic in wanted items but I can't access it

Evening all, I just want to put this out to you guys and I'll really appreciate it if anyone can help me out on this but I've been looking after an old Shorrock security system and I really like it and I pretty much don't want to replace it as it's still going strong and yesterday when I done a bell box test I noticed the external siren didn't work anymore. The bell box is an old Shorrock 170 metal pentagon shaped bell box and there basically my favourite bell boxes. If any one has one for sale going cheap or is going to be replacing one can I please have it as I will not change my bell box to anything modern and a Shorrock 170 is what I prefer to use as I'd like to keep my Shorrock system original and I'd like to have another Shorrock 170 as I find they really keep the burglars at bay. I look forward to hearing from you and If anyone has a Shorrock 170 bell box for sale I'm more than happy to buy it off them.
Best regards Thorn

Historic England won't thank you though; next time just go for the copper, and spend 1/3 of the payout on a Vanderbilt SPC. Trust me.

It does have 1ft long cable going to the panel and it doesn't work mate. This system was removed from a building that was getting demolished and I got first dips into the alarms I even saved to Pyronix Deltabells

Have you replaced the keypad recently
Tbh Its second hand and the panel says Accenta 8 mini on the front
1 hour ago, datadiffusion said:AFAIK the LCD keypad can only translate 'LED data' from the system into locally defined messages.
So if the keypad is showing what I would assume is the 'default screen' it suggests the data connection to the panel has been lost, just the power remaining, or the panel is goosed other than the PSU.
Have you tried turning it off and on again?
I've tried turning it off and on again but doesn't seem to be working

Hi, I'm having Issues with my Accenta G4 and all its doing is the RKP is just displaying Accent G4 RKP F131-01-111 I have 6 zones in use and all pirs are the Pyronix Equinox pirs and 1 of them is above the keypad in the corner of my hallway by the front door. would it be the PIR causing the fault?

Thank you

bear in mind both are budget units the ex35 is well old now too. i like optex detectors but an rx-40 is way better than the old ex35
Yeah there good quality which is what you want I don't mind Texecom pet immune PIRS
-
The Honeywell activ8 Pet friendly PIR is very nice looking PIR but it does a really good job when protecting my property and as I have a dog in the house who we let roam round the house freely and I've had no false alarms and It's a PIR I would recommend and there better than the old PIRs I bought 1 Activ8 pet immune PIR to try and fitted it in the living room zone 2 and all PIRs have been changed to Honeywell Activ8's except zone 5 which was upgraded to an Optex PIR in 2008 that can also be a pet immune PIR by turning the board inside it the other way round and the Optex has given no false alarms but I would recommend a Honeywell Activ8 or Optex Wonderex EX-35

Are you now doing this as a job ?
I'm taking it up for a job now as it's good to have a job then no job at all and I'm happy that I now work with alarms

Hi, Today I had two alarm jobs and on my last job I got a phone call asking for a replacement alarm system as the one they had was rubbish. I got to the house with a brand new Pyronix enforcer and before installation of the enforcer the people in the house told me they just moved in to the house 3 days ago and the house had a Response Miguard fitted and they said it was false alarming and going nuts with them. I installed the enforcer on the house and at the end of installing the Pyronix enforcer they were thrilled with the system. Now my review on the Response Miguard is that it's very flimsy and I wouldn't say it's the best because there really poorly and cheaply made and there very easy to tamper with. So really to bear in mind I rather choose a better alarm system then a Miguard.
Castle Caretech 1600 V3.3
in Control Panels (Public)
Posted
Hello, it's been way over 2 years since I posted here now but anyway I'm looking for the engineers manual for a Castle Caretech 1600 V3.3 panel. I bought it off eBay around 4 years ago now and only just got chance to faf around with it. It has no codes with it and I need to know how to factory default it and so forth so I can install it on my collection shed.
Kind regards, TG6
