  1. Wanting to install some door contacts on a galaxy 2 Honeywell system any1 got an suggestions on any good ones needs to be 1k resistance either side im thinking elmdene ones but thery're 400Ohms over would this cause any problems?
  2. basically cause i had no manual i thought that the external tamper was for the ext sounder tamper, and this was closed looped. and the connection next to it was for something else, as the global tamper was using a zone
  3. I tried setting the alarm off to still no look, but managed to find a pcb schematic from the same makers and looks similar. I think I know how I got confused now the system has a separate external tamper also which is right next to the ext sounder tamper which has a balancing resistor connected, also has bell outputs but theres no strobe connection? thus the reason why only a 4 core cables been used?, and yeh think its a CP42/03 and yeh gd point cause if you trip it will work like a sound bomb! Do you know the sounder connections by any chance?, if you could maybe tell me them would really help just the labeling on the pcb is totally different to what you get now!
  4. It's just I've got a job with this panel, everything seems to be working fine apart from the external sounder, noticed last guy wrote down the ext sounder battery was dead, looks like hes also close looped the tamper, & cable used is only a 4 core one! tested system, with power disconnect, and battery disconnect ext sounder doesn't work on either
  5. Anyone know where I can get the Engineers manual for the Aritech CP 42?
  6. Hi I am aware that to install a fire alarm system a certification from FIA is needed, now I have noticed alot of electricians do domestic fire systems on a ring but I guess at least part p would be needed as this would need to be fed from a dedicated circuit on the distribution board. Now the question is do you need any certifications e.g. FIA or Bafe to install a 12v smoke or heat detector to the fire zones on an intruder alarm system in a domestic property?
  7. oh the big sign, well guess ive made myself look like a right spoon now didn't see until i zoomed in
  8. well that's what id do, always keep a spare sounder, on the other hand its a nuisance so would either do something with the link or even cut the cables from the battery inside the sounder
  9. oh i see lol, maybe could do with some ear defenders and move the battery test link?
  10. did you not remove all the sounder connections from the panel?, usually they have a cut off point after 15 mins? need to knock off power, disconnect panel battery & then disconnect sounder cables, be careful not to touch the strobe connections as these can be around 300V
  11. Sounds like the power to the system could be spurred off the lighting circuit, might be worth telling the engineer that just incase any of the fuses have blown on the fused spur or within the panel itself!
  12. I think the only way to push this problem out is by providing clients with maintenance contracts on all wired systems, so parts and labor are included!. This means the client would overall benefit from saving money and it also puts a stop to jo blogs coming in! Not only this you as the installer are securing your jobs!, say you charged X amount a year per client & multiply it by say 5 years, that's a nice tidy profit the clients happy & your happy and keeps a constant flow of work coming in!
  13. Totally agreed!, but do you see where im coming from in terms of future maintenance? say honeywell discontinued there wireless detectors for the galaxy 2 you would not be totally stuck as you can still add wired detectors to the system, or they could alternatively bring out a new RF module?. But say you have a system with limited numbers of wired zones and a one that does not include the flexibility for upgrade modules then the client would have to get a whole new system, there's also the cost of parts to be considered a wireless external sounder is around £100, but wired is like £25 Also doesn't this leave the industry becoming more widely open to DIY people saying they're engineers?
  14. sorry norman wasn't meant at you personally but that's just my opinion, i could make more money quicker installing cheaper stuff or could wait and build a better rep for been more honest
  15. which system would you say is more future proof in terms of replacement parts? and good for me would be to install the system that provides me with a better reputation
  16. The ones that don't install the system that's better for the client!
  17. I get you, best to tell the client the truth so the parasites don't win the job , honeywell all the way!
  18. Im not NSI certified but I would never try to do something like that dont ADT use honeywell galaxy 2's?
  19. Not only this they're taking work from me by saying they will call emergency services from a telephone dialler system that calls them? is this legal??
  20. The main problem with wireless alarms such as powermax in my eyes is that you only get 2 wired zones. Now will visonic continue to manufacture compatible detectors for this system in the future? what if they don't? If a customer on the other hand had a honeywell galaxy 2 wireless system, then there's no problems as this system is also compatible with wired detectors and you can also double balance them In my eyes there seems to be to many people pushing out wireless systems now days but not thinking about what will happen in say the next 3-4 years?

  22. Is there any particular reason your looking for that type of bell box?
  23. Sorry I didn't realise I won't do it again!
  24. I hate this a person charging people for an auto dallier system!, why not set up so it calls there phones then they can call the police!, or they could pay a monthly fee to have a police system instead! this guy is one money greedy person, not only this he doesn't have the knowledge to do wired systems http://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/shows/tweenies
