If your looking at DiY or Yale Brand then why not look at the Yale Easyfit or even Yale Ultimate. The HSA6400 is now quite a old system. You get one which has a SmartPhone App which allows you to hide the Main Box away. Plus is there no local companies which will spread alarm over x months for repayment? p.s if anybody scared about average burglar who often is just chancing there luck is not that likely going to carry a jaming device, Well I can only speak about my area in Scotland. Maybe you English have different criminals. While talking about Wireless system. Anybody installed or used Risco Alarms? We had a Sales Person at work showing us there alarm, Are they good?

I am unsure how the Yale alarm not work? It could be he is pointing PIR sensor at a Window which you should not do. Or Point PIR at a Door Sensor.

It need to be independent like a Ofcom/Ofgem set up which also help protect end users against dodgy firms. I am part of a unite thou however my employer also has a worker forum which is okay but I know I have union help if I need it if something goes wrong.

My personal views on unions I feel it may be in breach of rules. However My company has Unison and Unite as its two unions and Unite guy is a total fudge.

My point. If its going to be something it needs to be like SIA for which is operated by Goverment, Even like Ofcom/Ofgem set up.

To be honest all it will be is a money earner for somebody in goverment however our industry is not really causing concern to many people. It could be a scheme more like 'trusted Trader' type of scheme but I think it take a few years for how it will go. In Scotland a Window Cleaner is more regulated that a Security Alarm installer which is worrying.

Who says you need wear Badge on the arm. SIA was a new body as there was already bodies out there that looked after door staff and etc. I already wear company ID plus a few others and its not just about badge but being officially recognised as a trade as Security is one few which you don't need to really have be part of a trade body or regulated.

I just personally would not feel confident in getting a Private Bodies like JIB/ECS/CSCS schemes, SSAIB and NSI. Which should be a goverment run body which operates like SIA as we all know there some dodgy 'alarm fitters' Just had a quick read of that and seems interesting but it talks about end of 2013 and were now at end of 2014 so I guess it already changed.

Who do you think should do it? Should goverment spend millions on setting up a extra body or have the Security Industry Authority(SIA) added to their remit. I personally don't think it should be SSAIB or NSI who should do it. As our firm left SSAIB after they did not like our move for Wireless Alarms on the Market and our firm worked hard to get the NSI Gold Standard. Your going to pay for the privilege one way or other and standards should hopefully increase. Plus people understand the SIA system which is pretty simple. Our company has a Section which is a SIA regulated side and which all the Security Guards, CCTV Operators, Keyholders all say the SIA badged system really improved the industry and set the standards.

Hey, Just wanting to find out if anyone installs Intelligent CCTV. I just looked at my work emails and came across one for a well known chain to install intelligent cctv which what I am talking about is CCTV which Uses Faces and picks them up and tracks them around store and without need for Security Guard to physically do it. As this chain wants to reduce shrink in there store. This system could pick up known people to them and auto track them around the store on different cameras and alert staff that that person has entered the store. I always from day one found this type of systems Cleaver but scary at same time. We installed it for Councils & Police and Goverment but never for a Private Chain. What do you guys think of systems like this and is it the start of a real CCTV state?

Interesting point. My Employer has us all go through several courses. I am trained on Internal for our own systems we install and we're constantly getting asset via on-site visits however this is more Customer Service, Knowledge and Quality of work. I am trained to NVQ Level 3 in Providing Electronic Security and Emergency Systems (2882) but I was a ADT trainee at 16 and worked in industry several years now. I know my wee trainee is currently working towards NVQ Level 3 in Electronic Security and Emergency (I Think) As that what I remember on his wee folder I have to do for his training record but he does 10 weeks at college and 20 weeks on the job which after that he will be getting offered a Job as a Installer. I think SIA be perfect to take this onboard and allow people to be badged for certain tasks like Intruder, CCTV, Fire Systems. Plus have different Levels such as CSCS system however they also need to do it more like Gas Safe cards for homes to check.

We got told that Chubb remain ownership of there products even after customer finished the contract with them. As something to do with protecting there 'Patented Security Systems' = To be honest I thought it sounded like BS but hey ho let them run a business like that. I am only saying what I got told btw, I would of edited it but I can't

I say leave this stuff alone if you never installed Warden Call Equipment. Easy to install but nightmare if something goes wrong and properly need a good insurance and lawyer if it does go wrong. Just remember to keep records of everything for this. We did a project like what your doing and our company installed the new system and left the Chubb equipment in so they had two systems in place we then got Chubb to remove old system which Chubb never liked but they should kept good service to customers. This is best part of remember!! Explain to customer you need to get Chubb in to remove their equipment as they lock the equipment to Chubb and your not allowed to touch it for various legal reasons and Chubb always own their equipment, Like ADT do. (They properly already hate the system and Chubb) *The punch line* However the system we're installing for you will not be a such locked into my company which you can get any company to maintain this unit but I always advise you get the company who installed it to maintain it.(Shows them you value service and listen to there wants and needs not to be locked which is why they properly asked you) If you do this job insist on taking a service agreement so to cover everyone that system is maintain and make themselves have a daily log of systems works which means if something goes wrong you can prove you covered yourselves on your visits and system working to best of your ability. Hopefully all that makes sense.

I say always go with Dual Tech/Honeywell stuff, Good quality and cheap!!

That I find acceptable, Its the homes you go into and there cable running along walls and etc.

For myself I just hate cables and I take a picture of one my jobs I installed which have cable as I go mad with Cable tacs, Cable ties and label machine. We number PIR sensors and then tag cable with the number to that PIR sensor.

If a cable system done nice then its good however I been to some systems installed by 'Professionals' and the cable is running everywhere. Oh then new people move into property and start cutting cables!!!

Its worth while remembering. Getting a used system always cheaper, Just make sure you have support if something goes wrong. However if your doing access control and etc then you must be aware of what your doing. I would highly advice for average home to go wireless as means you don't need damage any decor with horrid wires running everywhere and then one day cutting them without even knowing what they are for.

I think the problem was I kept rewording things to point of not being understandable.

TO answer somebody question, We sell and install Avocet ABS locks.

We only install locks for fiver to domestic properties as I think its more a point to possible do future work in home as most often get Alarm Fitted. Also they properly have a better buying power than what you be able to buy a lock for. We install alarms and allow customer to finance the alarm via monthly price from like £6 a month for basic system. Which time you include Alarm Monitoring, Maintenance and Key holding its more like £25 + a month depending on if you want Police Response. which before you know it your getting a few thousand pound alarm fitted. So installing a lock for a fiver is the smaller picture! As said before its more about once in somebody home there more likely going to return to ourselves for a price and trust us first other somebody else which makes it easy to get a service like Alarm or etc.
