  2. I would class alarms as part of "control" of the building personally. We are always told to do it on commercials but not domestics...yet.
  3. What are peoples thoughts on this? It has never been an issue but was just having a general chat with the guys at new company. Was doing a google search and came across this http://www.planningportal.gov.uk/buildingregulations/approveddocuments/partm/faqs Q. Should the height of trip switches and consumer units (fuse boxes), which are normally positioned at least 1200mm above floor level to avoid tampering by children, be within the 450mm to 1200mm height range specified in Section 8? A. AD M does not offer guidance on the positioning of trip switches and fuse boxes. A new Part of the Building Regulations, Part P 'Electrical safety', with accompanying guidance in an Approved Document, came into force on 1 January 2005. Part P 'Electrical safety' can be found on the Planning Portal. Section 10.5.2 of BS 8300:2001, 'Design of buildings and their approaches to meet the needs of disabled people - code of practice' states that: electrical socket outlets, telephone points and TV sockets should be located between 400mm and 1000mm above the floor. Switches for permanently wired appliances should be mounted between 750mm and 1200mm above the floor. Meters should be mounted between 1200mm and 1400mm from the floor so that the readings can be viewed by a person standing or sitting. Pre-pay meters should be accessible but protected from tampering by children. All switches and controls that require manual dexterity should be between 750mm and 1000mm from the floor, and the maximum height of simple push button controls which require limited dexterity should be 1200mm. Near bottom looks like domestic may have to go to 1200 height for keypads.
  4. I always call them pet tolerent sensors rather then pet immune.
  5. Thanks for the advice guys. Don't think ill ever be doing the bell sqwak personally
  6. I used to have a van that had a raised floor just over height of cable drum. Steps slotted under aswell was a great layout I thought. Steps and cable out of the way instead of kicking around the back getting in the way when all i needed was some basic tools.
  7. Hi All, Was just wondering if anyone knew the legalities relating to sending post to someone who is having work done that I know because of looking at the local planning permission on councils website. My old boss used to send very brief casual letters to people having work done. I just wanted to know whether this is allowed or would it be classed as illegal? Just looking for new ways to generate business.
  8. I meet Caroline once. Think she was repping for Texecom at the time seemed to know her stuff. Shes on linkedin. Head of strategic accounts at Risco now.
  9. Not sure I think its done via keyswitch so would assume non compliant. They seem to have a lot of relays in the panels for using the alarm to set the CCTV aswell. They also like taking all inputs into IA and then mimic external GJDs which are on a different non alarmed area then an RM8 to trigger DVR inputs. It would be for level 1 users just set and unset of system.
  10. Hi All Just started a new job and they seem to be using Bell Sqawk on setting and unsetting the alarm.. I am pretty damn sure this is non compliant but just wanted to run by you guys here before i raise it as an issue. Also has anyone had any experience with NAPCO they seem to be using this for setting and unsetting the alarm and the boss says its compliant but I have big doubts.... http://www.napcosecurity.com/keyfobs.html Also what are the regs on AV integration in that you can see if the alarm is set via a custom AV ipad app. I don't think they have an option to set/unset from the AV software though. Thanks for the tips.
