February 3, 200620 yr comment_85360 When I disconnect the mains power from my Optmia alarm control panel the outside alarm sounds, i checked the rechargable battery in the control panel and it gave a reading of 6v, this would normaly indicate a worn-out battery, however the battery is only six monts old, so i then checked the DC output to the rechargable battery with the mains power on and the battery disconnected, it was only 9v, i would assume it should be in excess of 12v to keep the battery fully charged. Does this indicate a problem with the alarm panel & where do i need to look in order to rectify it? thanx in advance, laylo. February 3, 200620 yr comment_85367 I'm assuming prior to the new battery being installed it was in there for a number of years and not working? If so, then the panels probably shot, the Optimas aren't too keen on trying to charge knackered batteries. They are repairable sometimes but it's not really worth it, time for a new one. Most ADE panels have a voltage of around 14 volts dc to charge the battery - the voltage you are getting of 9 volts indicates that the charging circuit is faulty and therefore the panel should be replaced.
