Menvier Sd2

Featured Replies

The SD2 has 2 auxiliary inputs the can be switched remotely, and hints that it can be used for home automation projects as an example.

From memory, the SD2 provides a low voltage toggle as Output 1/2, has anyone on the team actually used this for anything useful, and how did you achieve it?

(I just hate having a facility, then not using it!)

You could use them for absolutely anything, switch the heating on when you're on your way home, switch lights on\off, lock\unlock doors remotely...... The list is pretty much endless.

Yes - but there are practicalities... like how do you achieve it? CH control is out, as I can't tamper with the controller, as it already has control (and switches at 240v!). Anything useful you are going to switchwill probably be at mains level, - is there a self-contained module that is either socket or terminal based, that will accept output from the SD2, and provide the necessary relay to switch 240v?

You can use it to control heating, unless your controls are extremely specialised and very rare.

All you need to switch mains rated loads is a 12V relay, power it from the SD2 output and stick a mains rated load across the contacts on it.

I don't think you really want to use the outputs anyway.
