September 25, 200322 yr comment_2684 I recently installed a Scantronic 9448+ unit which is now working fine (thanks to your site - I had missed the bellbox tamper return...). The unit has been running fine for a couple of weeks, however I notice that the plastic case is quite warm, and with the box open the low voltage regulator heatsink is pretty hot! I have measured & checked the current drawn by the 7 PIRs (~180mA) and 2 keypads (40mA), the battery is new, so I seem to be well below the spec'ed 500mA for the panel. Should I be worrying? or has anyone else noticed that the electronics on this panel normally run hot ?! September 25, 200322 yr comment_2689 sounds ok, so long as the plastic case isnt so hot you cant touch it, scantronic panels do tend to run hot and after a few years the PCB's are often blackened with the heat from the heatsink. September 26, 200322 yr comment_2720 Thanks for your reassuring replies! I had a glance at low voltage regulator specs on the web and not only do they run happily at upto 150°C, but they also have "thermal shutdown". Great! , Guy Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/526-scantronic-9448-style-gets-hot/#findComment-2720 Share on other sites Share on LinkedIn Share on X Share on Facebook {lang="reddit_text" Share via email Share on Pinterest
