I am in the process of fixing up a house which has a XM6 alarm panel fitted but the last occupier never left the alarm pin code. I have a user manual for a Optima XM and set about resetting the NVM.

According to the instructions it goes

1 remove mains supply and open front panel and cause alarm condition

2 disconnect battery - SCB should sound.

3 remove wires from term 9 and 19

4 loop 9 and 19 and reconnect power.

5 the panel will now power up with no alarm condition.

EXcept

at 2 no external sounder or bell.

but at 4 everything went off and even the factory code 0123 didn't work.

Question

1 is my manual for a earlier model or have I done something silly.(more than likely)

This panel was fitted by the MEB in 94 so it's about 10 yrs old and last service was 97.

Be gratefull for any advice.
