Help on DSC PC-3000

Featured Replies

We underwent a power outage here and during the outage the battery died.

Power is back on, battery has been replaced, time of day has been reset, but the system will not go to the ready mode.

The trouble code indicator is ON as are the 16 LED zone indicators.

When *2 is used I get trouble indicated on the telephone line. This DSC PC-3000 system has performed flawlessly since it was installed. It was originally a monitored system, but a few years back I had the monitoring company disconnect the system from the telephone lines.

The keypad is quite obviously able to communicate with the pc board. I am reluctant to do a "reset" on the board as this will reset the board to factory specs. I have tried to turn the communications section OFF by using the *8 command with the default access code but to no avail.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I could go out and buy a new system but I am a Grinch :) and a retired one at that.

I am not really sure of my capabilities regarding the reprogramming of the board, hence my reluctance to do the hard reset. I do have the installation manual which I have read a couple of times but it is a bit over my head, if you know what I mean :) The instruction manual is really just a very 'light' version of basic information from the installation manual.

Has anyone encountered this problem? How was it resolved.

Many thanks,

Neil MacLennan
