September 8, 200421 yr comment_22727 i find screened cable the source of most problems.. 22725 Any other suggestion then? As I said I am unable to avoid crossing mains wires under the floor boards. Is there any other cable that would be suitable? I must admit I had a standard 6 core cable installed for years and had no problems with false alarms even though that it run next to or been crossing mains cables. Now I need to install sensors in additional locations, so a bit more concerned about this issue since I read here on the forum about it? September 8, 200421 yr comment_22729 To be honest, and I'll probably get flamed for this, but induced a/c is only really a problem for poor quality panels and passives. As long as you're using good quality stuff you really should'nt need screened cable on a domestic installation, unless the cable is carrying data. On longer cable runs EMI is more of a problem than a/c. I would use eight core is you need six and earth the spares. Just before you put the lid on measure the induced a/c and make a note of it. If you then have an fa then re-measure and fit an ACT1313 if you want. September 8, 200421 yr comment_22766 thanks for your help! I take this should not be an issue with Scanny 9751, I may also look into getting an expander for wireless for this panel. September 8, 200421 yr comment_22803 IIRC most scanny panels deal with induced a/c anyway. And avoid wirefree unless the site makes cabling impossible. October 1, 200421 yr comment_25649 i find screened cable the source of most problems.. 22725 Few tips to get rid of this kind of problems: 1) Use safety isolated transformers (like LF9968) 2) Do NOT put them into any casing Now you will have safe voltage and panel/casing don't have to be earthed! 3) Use screened cables. 4) Connect screens to the panel earthing pin and/or casing (DO NOT earth them) 5) When you continue wiring, don't forget to connect screens together :!: This will cause screened cables to have its own capasitive mass. Earthing screened cables will absolutely cause troubles due to earthing current, which causes the noise. This is how I do it. No problems having alarm cables running next to 300Amps 230/400V AC cable.
