Optima XL6 - Rewire door sensor

Featured Replies

My Optima XL6 alarm has been working ok but recently has been going off by itself. I have traced the problem to a back door sensor where the cable appears to have been cut/broken and has some insulation tape wrapped around it (done by the previous house owner). Is there any way to temporarily disable the alarm so i can remove & rewire the sensor correctly (preferably without the sirens blaring in my ears while i do it!)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1. Press Prog then 9999

This will put the panel into engineers mode.

2. Check the tape joint going to the door. Two things here you can either repair the cable or rewire it from the control panel. I you repair it you can buy a small joint box from Maplin.

3. What ever way you do it ensure you follow like for like ie colour code red to red ect.

4. When complete Press reset reset panel will return to day mode

easy peasy

'Alarm Man' - I was going to remove the old tape and use an electrical joining box to secure the loose/shorting wires.

'Old Timer' - So if I put the box into engineers mode i will be able to disconnect and repair the sensors without tripping the tamper circuit?
