hi guys, just recently moved into a house in an area that is now receiving a spate of breakins, i was wondering if i can "part set" the scantronic 9427 so the alarm can be active during the night downstairs while we sleep upstairs. I did read that this may have to be done when it was installed. If so how do i find if this has actually been done. Or can i indeed part set this alarm?

9427 is the keypad not the system, is it a 9448?

You should be able to part set it if its been setup right - try the manual.
