Texacom R8 And Strobe Problem

Recommended Posts

Ive just fitted a new system, just a Texacom 8Compact panel and Texacom Odyssey 1E with one dual tech.

Every thing works fine until I set the system it goes straight to alarm once the exit times out. I narrowed it down to the strobe, when I disconnect it the system works fine, but when reconnected the problem is back. If I test the strobe from the panel it works fine.

Thanks for reading all

EDIT sorry its an 8Compact

Did you put one the dual tech supply wires into the 'SW+' terminal instead of the 'AUX SUPPLY' terminal by mistake?

I havent got back up to look at this again yet but I dont think ive made the mistake above

At the the detector i have connected

Tamp - from the tamper circuit and it is working properly

Alarm - from the zone connections

12v 0v - from the Aux + and -

LA - no connection

RL - no connection

Yes the strobe is set to confirm setting but ill will be changing it. Would this have an effect?

I`m still thinking youve got a short on a cable somewhere - strobe changes when it sets, put your test meter across the strobe trigger and zone loops - see if theres a resistance reading there

The common mistake that I'm refering to is at the PANEL end. SW+ switches at the end of the exit period. The terminal is next to AUX+, so i'ts easy to make a mistake. If you do, the system will go into 'alarm' at the end of the exit time, as you have discribed. I havn't thought-through the implications of the system working O.K. when you disconnect the strobe wire. But, it's worth double-checking the AUX connections at the panel end before proceeding.

No problems I'll check that too, thanks
