Random 24 hr circuit alarms

Featured Replies

I have had an A1 alarm installed in this house for 10 years and it has behaved well.

But in recent weeks the control panel will trigger a 24 hr circuit alarm maybe every couple of days. It can happen both with the alarm being set or not, and will always clear OK so it is not a permanent problem in the circuit.

I have put a link across the 24hr circuit connections on the control panel and it still happens, so presumably it is either a fault internal to the control panel or on the sounder box.

Any suggestions as to what could cause this kind of problem? To narrow it down further can I put a link across the SCB connectors on the control panel to find out whether it might be sounder box or control panel?

Thanks

The battery in the control panel was replaced 4 years ago. But I admit that the one in the sounder box has not been changed. Could a bad/dead battery cause this kind of problem?

Sounds like it's time to replace the panel.

A1 panels rarely last that long! :D

Thanks for the advice. Just to be sure, I can link out the SCB connectors on the control panel while the other connectons to the bell box (i.e. power) are still connected? Don't really want to remove those because when I now know that the battery in the bell box is working still and so the alarm will sound.
