Challenger Viii Alarm & Bell Box Problems

Featured Replies

Hi,

My next door neighbour was the unfortunate victim of a burglary a couple of days ago. He is in the process of getting a better alarm system, but for the time being is trying to get the current one that was installed before he moved in working. He has all the codes etc. The problem is that when doing the walk test, the sounder does not work. It just makes a clicking noise and the alarm will not set either. The tamper light is illuminated but at present i've put this down to the cover being off the PCB and Bell box. I've checked that curret is being supplied and there are no breaks in cabling etc. To be honest it doesn't appear to be a very good system but it's better than nothing whilst he's in the process of upgrading.

PCB is Challenger VIII

Sounder is Challenger Sounder AV1000

Any ideas how to get the sounder to work and why the system won't set?

Many thanks in advance.

Regards,

James
