Hi everyone - I have just bought a new house that has installed a Gardtec 500 series alarm. The lady i bought the house off did not know the alarm code as it was installed when the house was built (1995). Can anyone tell me how to either reset the alarm so that i can enter a new number or how i can find out the model number and who to contact in order to? (I dont know much about alarms and figure if i take the front off the keypad the alarm will go off??). As anyone who has ever bought a house will know - i dont really want to have to spend anymore money on getting an engineer out who will probably tell me i need an upgraded model!! Any help would be gratefully apreciated.

You do need an engineer but you dont need an upgraded model, if all you want is a basic reliable system.

An engineer will be able to default to user code and issue you with a new one and a manual for the panel. You should also have the system serviced regularly.
