Hullo.

I'm a Security professional! Well, ok, actually in a rather different sense than many of yourselves - I work in IT security, not alarms and CCTV - but it seems to me that many of the concepts are the same. In this field I'm very much a DIYer though.

I have a Melcom ST6100 alarm with a K6600 remote LCD keypad (waiting for melcom to replace this with a new panel they promised me last November - they're working on a software update ), and an SD2 text and speech dialer (damn nice piece of kit). I also run an old laptop (built in UPS) as my home server, with home broadband and emergency GSM network connections, where the outputs from the SD2 go. Nothing set up there as yet (a question of spare time, we have three kids;-)), but plans are for the SD2 to trigger on dropped phone line for SMS to be sent via GSM. Also have plans for various X10 toys, I've a wifi camera somewhere around, and so on - as I said, very DIY, mostly for fun but remembering that this is a very serious business.

Just thought I'd say hello :-)

-simon
