Ademco 6160 Rf Keypad Adding Keytag / Keyfobs

Was there ever an answer about the keyfobs? I have a Galant panel with 6160RF keypad. I've just bought a 5834-4 keyfob and I can't get it to register as a user. It is recognised as a secure device but I just get "Awaiting keyfob" until it tiles out, whatever combination of buttons I press on the fob.
