texecom premier power o/p fault

we had a power cut for more than 20 hours. since we are unable to set the alarm. on the pcb the following message is "power o/p fault" what to do? do we have to change the battery? apparently our battery is a 12 volts is there any particular precaution to take while we change the battery.
