  1. Need to look in the cabinet first, not that I'll know what i'm looking at. Will probably buy a new battery anyway, after the stick I got off my missus at 3 a.m. this morning when the fu##er went off !
  2. Is there an easy way of doing this without using some kind of meter (which I don't have) ?
  3. Mant thanks, will let you know if this solves my problem !
  4. Thanks for the (mixed) responses, and yes I do have short arms and deep pockets ! But, my Optima 2 Plus alarm does a perfectly good job ... until we have power cuts. Basically, the battery backup does not kick in - it did it again last night at 3:00 a.m. ! I have found the following battery - can anyone please confirm this is what I need ? ..... http://www.batterycompany.co.uk/shop/power-sonic-12-volt-batteries/power-sonic-ps1221-12v-21ah-rechargeable-sla-battery/?gclid=CIX11er4j8oCFc8aGwodlM0L3Q#6534 Many thanks.
  5. Hi All, This is my first post and hopefully I have picked a topic relevant to my question. When I moved into my house 18 years ago the Optima 2 Plus alarm was already fitted, so no idea how old it is ! Generally it works fine, if you don't mis-key and end up with 'odd' settings, but my problem relates to battery backup. Occasionally we get power outages - which causes the alarm to sound constantly. I have been told the battery backup may not be working ? On other forums there is talk of a battery in the control panel - if this is the keypad then I can't see a battery. Is the control panel the white box in my garage ? If so, again from other forums, it looks like the battery I need to replace is large and expensive ? Can anyone confirm that I do indeed need to replace my battery in the 'white box' and, if so, how (without driving the neighbours to distraction !). Man thanks in advance ! [Moved - please don't bump 10 year old topics]
