  1. Well not that it matters, but it have been companies like Indigovision, Mobotix and Axis who have been the pioneers of IP video technology. Axis has turned out to be a market trendsetter for quite a while but lately there are so many manufacturers out there that offer competitive, high quality products in that field that it is hard to catch up anymore. That is a good sign in my opinion, gives us installers more options and hopefully more and more clients will therefore go IP instead of analog, as apparently the number of installed analog system still outnumbers IP video systems in terms of new installed systems.
  2. Yeah I agree totaly, I've lost a lot of potential jobs to competitors although the system was outperforming them by lightyears. So later on I changed course and tried cheaper things too. I have made good experiences with Geovision as well, they now have a complete line of cheaper linux based NVR's up to enterprise level servers with raid storage. Also solutions for Licenseplate recognition and some analytics like people counting. Since two years or so they included an own line of access control which lacked a bit of functionality when first introduced, but it seems to have improved now. Honestly you can't beat the price of that system when it comes to integration with access. What I miss is though is an opion to integrate an intercom. Commercial buildings have always intercoms and Mobotix is great there.
  3. Well as I mentioned, I used to be an authorised partner for Indigovision http://www.indigovision.com/back in Croatia, had a really hard time to compete with an competitor who was installing Mobotix. I needed a good integrated solution with hundreds of IP cameras, access control and burglar alarm centrally monitored for a large shoping mall and back in 2009 full integration was mainly Genetec or Indigovision, although both expesive as hell... I started to use Mobotix when I moved to Canada, the system was not popular there but I did my fair share, it has uniqe functionalities that still set it appart form others
  4. Well, at least that's a life sign So what is popular here in terms of IP video? I can't imagine Indigovision, I used to be an authorised partner back in the days, they said at sales training if you come accross Mobotix as an counter offer, walk away, they're far to cheap to compete with...
  5. Hello there, I've been wondering if anyone here is using Mobotix IP video systems? Just curious, as I'm coming from abroad and don't know the market here well. I have a good knowledge in Network video, especially Mobotix, who knows maybe someone could need a hand on a job...
  6. I'm a Visonic guy since back in the days, I think it was 2001 when the Powermax was still the first panel of its kind on the market. The product is robust, still follows more or less the same set up, never really had technical issues, inovations came slow sometimes but then again they would make serious break throughs in wireless technolgy that other would follow years later. I find the new Power-G technology has some amazing features that make all the difference and I was afraid when Tyco bought them because of that technology that this might be the end of Visonic, but meanwhile I was assured that they will keep all the alarm brands alive (Visonic, DSC and Bentel) as they have different existing distribution channels in place for many years and it would be stupid to give that up. It was clear that they would integrate Visonics Power-G technology into their DSC brand and actually it will be also used for Bentel, which created pretty powerfull hybrid solutions. Not sure if DSC is popular here in the UK, I guess not so much as you guys have a lot of good own manufacturers. It was also clear from the beginning that ADT will use this technology, but who cares, one could always sell it under a different brand.
  7. Greetings everyone, I am a bit of a special case I guess ) I'm an internationally experienced security technician being mainly self employed since 2001 now. Over the years I have specialised mainly in IP video, access control and building communication, but I did also lots of alarms. I came quite around a bit as I'm Croatian by origin, grew up in Germany, went to Croatia at the end of that blody war of ours and spent there 15 years. When business just took of seriously and we had our hands full of work with large IP video systems for shopping malls and business towers, back in 2010 the recession killed the construction industry and us along with it. Took the opportunity and moved to Canada where I worked for 3 years mainly as a contractor for ADT, but also a few other companies specialised in video monitoring. Meanwhile my mother, still living in Germany got sick and we decided to move back to Europe to help her out. So in 2014 we moved to Germany, my mom's fine now, but we're stucked in Germany. The kids and wife hate it, both the language and the people and the security industry is almost non existent here. Therefore I have decided to move to the UK next year. I found this kind of specialised forums always usefull and interesting for exchange of experiences and opinions, so I hope my experience will be similiar here. Renato
