  1. Hi sorry to re post but I tested again tonight and got a false alarm, twice As I previously said, the alarm was being triggered between 8:15 and 8:45 when it was fully set. On Thursday past the alarm was triggered at 8:35 on zone 4 landing...sharp beeps, I reset it and it triggered again at 8:45. I could see nothing odd but my view point was partial view out front. Tonight, on full set at 8:35 the alarm was triggered panel said zone 4... Sharp beeps. I rushed to a front bedroom window, nothing unsusal. Rushed back to the panel and put it on full set ( to see if it would trigger again) When I got back to front window I could see the elderly neighbour coming out of their front door, with garage door already open, she got into her car and drove it into the garage, walked out and closed the main garage door ( could not see if this was manual or electronic), she walked back into her house and 2-3 mins later at 8:45, my alarm triggered a false alarm on zone4, landing. The elderly neighbours do not always have their car sitting in the driveway, they only take it out if they are using it that day! They also have an alarm system, I do not know the details. What are your expert thoughts on this? Either my theory is daft and pure and simple I have a faulty landing sensor that triggers at 8:35 and 8:45 when alarm is fully set. Also to note, it does happen quickly but I don't see sensor 4 flashing and it only indicates it's zone 4 after I have silenced the alarm.
  2. Hi, I think this topic has become a little side tracked. Just to say thank you for all the advise given. Unfortunately or fortunately when observing tonight with the house in full alarm, zone4 triggered an alarm, twice. This us the landing sensor, I was in a bedroom near by out of sight, I inspected the sensor and surrounding area...no insects etc. I am going to call out the installer as "rf trouble" was no indicated this time. Thank you for the advise, I think we can close this thread now.
  3. Hi, The control panel is in the hot press at the top of the stairs. There is a sensor less than 0.5 metres away The secondary alarm panel is at the front door. There is a sensor in the hallway approx 4metres straight in front of the front door. The stairs are to the left, approx 15 steps. The house is 2 story, in a cul de sac of 4 (only 1 with an alarm system) , facing toward the 'internal road' of the housing development which leads to the other houses. The Housing development is located 0.2 miles from the main road, off a roundabout, down a road which has no other houses or developments except playing fields (only used Sat) On entering the development there are 4 houses either side, then you approach a small t-junction, my property is in the cul de sac to the right. Cars can by pass the cul-de-sac to continue on towards the other houses (approx 300 houses.) and visa vera. From observing in the evenings there is regular traffic, nothing noisy or trucks/mini vans, motorbikes and very few taxis. Thanks in advance. It is hard to describe without actually giving out my address
  4. By someone do you mean a network provider? How can I tell what frequency I'm running on? Thanks
  5. Re the passing traffic, when I put the panel into "walk test mode" it displays when there is rf trouble, flashing Amber, generally when cars are passing leaving the development. Sometimes it shows steady Amber for few longer seconds. Why would it trigger an alarm at particular times and not others? Is there a particular car or device active at the precise time the sensor is trying to send a signal back to the panel? How often are signal suppose to be sent/recieved? Does is only occur when house alarmed? Can it occur when alarm is on standby? Thanks in advance
  6. Thanks- this is what i suspected re: continued observations needed. The chap who installed the alarm did a service in Feb and I rang him for advise also. The housing development has a lot of traffic i am no 8 of 300 odd houses so a lot of vehicles in and out. I was hoping for tesco delivery or takeaway van to be the cause. I don't often go out of the house in the evenings for long periods, but when I do this has occurred. On the last occurrence: -I was out of the house noon- 6.00pm with house alarmed -no issues -Briefly entered around 6.00, around hallway & kitchen -Left the house & alarmed it again 6.30pm-9pm -Got a text from neighbour that alarm was going off between 8.15 and 8.45pm Alarm Panel (most recent first) PA, rf, rf, rf, alarm 2 (hallway), rf, rf, rf, alarm 1 (living room) For the passed few evenings i have gone outside to the garden, alarmed the house and observed with no luck! In particular, it seemed to occur on 2 fridays 1 month apart, but not last friday when i was observing. Out of 4 houses in the cul de sac only 1 adjacent has an alarm.
  7. Another question: Do you have to enter each room with a sensor at least once inside every 12 hour period for the panel to continue to make a connection with each sensor? I ask because I do not always enter the living room daily (I have a 2nd sitting area off the kitchen that i use). Else I pass through the other 3 sensors multiple times a day. How often does the sensor send a signal to the panel and does this happen when it is both on 'standby' and 'alarm on'?
  8. Hi Thanks for all the replies. To clarify: -its not alarming on all sensors at one time- different ones each time this has been an issue. * most recent: living room sensor, was the alarm * previously: top of landing was the trigger (strange because you have to pass the hall sensor first) -I have observed the area on different days with the full house alarmed and standing outside between 7-9pm...as luck would have it nothing occurred, it operated as it should and I did not notice anything unusual re: cars/moterbikes/delivery vans etc. I do live at the beginning of the housing development however. -It has not occurred at night when I alarm the house to go to sleep. -2 days a week I work away from house 7am-7pm, the house is alarmed- it has not occurred during this time. -I believe the alarm system is app roc 7-8 years old, bought by previous owners, installed professionally -No heating or hot water triggers -Do have a watchman but on the advise of the installer removed it to test. Plus Ive had it 10 months and this issues is only occurring recently. I will continue to observe. The neighbours are good at letting me know, but I feel embarrassed when it happens. Thanks for suggestions
  9. I have moved house 10 months ago to a house with a scatronic r500 wireless alarm system ( it's old, I know!) Initially gave no bother, until Feb when it said low battery and I called the installer out who did a service and replaced the batteries in all the sensors. Over the last 3 months the outside alarm has gone off 3/4 times, unexplained and randomly, when the alarm is active and I'm away from the property. When I get back, on entry I can hear 3 short beeps, go to the panel and can see PA, followed by Alarm zone 1/2/3/4 followed by "rf trouble" etc. This has happened a few times and at first I thought it was a fluke, unlucky, outside interference but recently in the last 6 weeks it has happened 3 times, mainly in evening around 8 -9 PM. Apart from these instances I can alarm the house and go away for hours e.g 7-6pm and no issues. Can anyone suggest what may cause this to happen and particularly in the evenings?
