  1. Ahh cool - changed battery but does seemed to have resolved the problem. Still doesnt seem to trigger the alarm. Any advice on how i can check that the PA are paired correctly with the Galacy G2 system? The user reset issue is resolved now though - the wired PA hadnt reset propery. Had to open it up to reset it.
  2. Hi, So ran my test and found one my wireless PA doesnt seem to work. Looks like it could be the battery but not sure how to get into any ideas? Pic attached. I also tested my wired PA and that works fine - used a key to reset it. Now when trying to activate alarm i am getting "user reset" required. I enter my code and view the log entry but this doesnt seem to get rid of the message. Any ideas? ,
  3. Hahaha - will do it tom in the day and quickly reset it.
  4. Hi, if I do get the g2 upgraded. There is another panel/module I think which used for my wireless PIRs does that need upgrading too? Or is that just a wireless hardware and the main panel is where all the main software is.
  5. Hi, I have an ADT alarm which is a galaxy g2. I want to test the panic alarm. How do I go about doing this? I can see where I can do a waking test to check the sensors all work. Where can it put it in a mode to test the panic alarm?
  6. Thanks! I was putting the screw in the bottom!
  7. Hi, It is a galaxy G2 alarm. I enter the engineering code and then press esc. It then does a tampers check and then says "lid" ,
  8. Hi, The firmware is at 1.42 for my system so it needs upgrading right? (GalaxyGuy - thanks for the PM, probably continue on the forum for now as this convo could be helpful for someone at somepoint). ,
  9. Hi, I have taken the cover off the panel for my ADT alarm. I put it in engineering mode first. Now I put the cover back on and it says tampers lid. It wont come out of engineering mode. Is there something i need to do to the lid to get re-set the tamper? ,
  10. Hi, sure, so the only option i have for remote access is 1. using the Ethernet card designed with the selfmon tool 2. replace the alarm panel with a flex one (if i was to stay with honeywell products) apologies, if it sounds like if i am asking the same questions, just want to make sure i understand. With regard to the firmware upgrade "flash lead, firmware binary and Honeywell flash utility." Is this something i need to call an engineer out to do? Prefer not to as I am trying to manage the alarm myself now...but doesnt look like i can get the firrmware? ,
  11. Hi, Just to clarify the following card is not compatabile with my panel? https://www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/honeywell-ethernet-module-ib-p-3643.html I am just wondering if there is an ethernet card which will allow me to use both selfmon/Honeywell app? A separate question - if i need to upgrade my system as I am on version 1.42. Where would I get the software from? Looks like i have to be a dealer to get the software... ,
  12. Hi, Thanks all for your comments. Pyronix Enforcer - looks good but means taking out my panel / keypads and rather not as its already in and working fine. no issues. GSM Dialler - sounds good too. I actually already have a dialler installed, SD2 dialler but thats to dial out when the alarm is triggered. Could this be used? More I have looked into this the more the option of the just adding an ethernet module looks like the best option. Not much change to the setup and I will be able to remotely access it -disarm/arm if needed. I will have IP cameras around the house to check the house if the alarm is triggered. Questions on the SelfMon app: - What support is available for any issues? Cant see an email address or phone number on the site? - The network card which needs to be purchased for the usage of the selfmon app - is a standard network card flashed with software for usage with selfmon? - Can the selfmon app functionality be used on the internet i.e. via a web browser - Are there charges to use the app if not used for monitoring? That is, if I just wanted to the galaxy keypad when i wanted to is there a charge? As I dont see any upfront download charges? Questions or views using Honeywell Ethernet module Honeywell Ethernet Module IB - this ethernet module by honeywell could be used with the panel have i think. Is that correct? - advantages is that i would be hardware which is from the same manufacturer which everything else has been built with - Can i use the selfmon app via with this too if needed? ,
  13. I don't have any electrician knowledge - though a bit of techy from a computer side. Will I just need to plug in the network card into the existing panel? The IP address would be assigned by my router. I can then connect to the panel via the app is that correct? Or is it more complicated than that?
  14. I have the engineering code Does the network card just fit onto the existing panel? Is there any instructions?
  15. before I tried to find someone who would mange the ADT alarm. I had a lot of problems of anyone who would take it because of issues with the engineer code, they were concerned even after reset they may not get into the alarm. Since then I don't want to give that up. To be honest I'm sure in the log it details when the engineering code is logged in with anyways. I understand where you are coming from though. If I didn't have that initial headache like this chap is who started the thread I wouldn't have been so concerned about having the code. Oh also to actually get the code reset for a new company - they charge.
  16. Why, would I ever go into engineering mode? I wouldn't. Problem is the alarm companies keep the code and if you want to leave them you tied in. Like ADT. I can then move to another company if I want. I wouldn't mess around with the system without knowing that I might mess it up. So far had the engineering code for the last three years never went in there.

  18. I had a local company out to my house where i had an ADT alarm. They did something - a reset of some sort. The engineering code has been reset and i have it too. The local company didnt want me to have it but said its my alarm and if you want to manage it you need to give it to me too. so it was reset to a code which we both knew.
  19. Hi, So it sounds like two best options are with questions: 1. Upgrade to Honeywell Flex - Will I need to replace the keypads or just the control panel do you think - Is this something i could do myself? My only worry is the ADT alarm seems to be very sensitive to tampering and if the power the alarm goes off etc...I just will need to know exactly what i need to do before i start. - could i still use the selfmon app with this if i wanted to? - how does the app with honeywell connect to the control panel. Assuming via external IP address of my internet connection but is it secure? Do i need to setup VPN to make sure it is secure? 2. Use Selfmon app - The network card, is this just connected to the existing control panel and could i do this myself - how does the app connect to the control panel. Assuming via external IP address of my internet connection but is it secure? Do i need to setup VPN to make sure it is secure? ,
  20. Would it make sense to just stick with Honeywell then? How come you would avoid Risco - out of interest as thats why my local company use? Just to clairfy - Siemens integrate with the Galaxy ok, so no keypad change or will there be?
  21. Hi James - I am looking to do an upgrade to be honest but working out the best way to do it without losing too much on the initial investment on the burglar alarm. If possible. But I do want to go for range which is popular and the app is user friendly/updated if needed - so a well known company. Reliable and very good product. Oh and obviosuly as connecting remotely needs to be secure, so using secure communication to the alarm. I also want to get to a stage where i can test the alarm myself etc - so i dont have a maintenace contract. Only have to call someone out if i find a problem. I am looking install IP cameras separately myself - probably be cheaper and less hassle than having them integrated in the alarm because if there is a problem i might have to call someone out A local company said they could install Risco but would need to replace the panel and the key pads. If I went for honeywell would i need to change the keypads? In turn though I would have to find a installer who would do it. ,
  22. Hi james, I didnt really mean is it free. Rather is an independnt guy who has done it, which sounds like it is? Or is it an app by Galaxy themselves. Just concerned about security if it is an indepenent app. In any case i guess i would need to somehow connect it to my alarm system.
  23. Hi 1l-yeti - it just said sensor triggered in hallway. So a sensor was triggered. It doesnt happen often so thats the only thing I can think it is - a spider...
