Yes , you don't have to use engineer hold off though , be careful with the power connections tape them to be safe and take a picture of how it was wired
Thanks, do I need to power down the alarm before changing the the PIR?

could be sensor, environment, cable or panel.
Your question is basically, my car wont start what do you think it is?
James, I see that the veritas 8 has an engineer hold off mode, could I swap the PIR thats giving me the false alarm with one of my good ones to diagnose it? How is the hold off activated? Thanks,

Ok, I guess I'll get a new PIR as the rest of system works fine the false alarm only started 2 days ago. If I do a walk test the sensor activates ok, but today after setting alarm and laeving the house the same false alarm happened within about 20 seconds.

Does it sound as though it could be a faulty PIR?

Hi,
One of my PIR sensors is giving a false alarm whenever set to "FULL" on a Texecom Veritas 8 system. I've taken the cover off to make sure there was nothing inside the PIR setting off the alarm. Could this be a faulty sensor? Can I disable the PIR until the sensor can be replaced so that I can still use the rest of the alarm system. TIA.

After reading a few posts I'm not sure if there is a delay on full set. When I was testing it today I was turning it off after about 10 seconds, not to annoy my neighbours. When doing the sounder tests both internal and external sounders operate. Tomorrow I'll set it to full and activate it by opening a door.

Some sort of bell delay or maybe it's set to internals only on part set.
I was altering the part settings a long time ago, so not sure if maybe I've changed something. Maybe I need to check if I've set to internals?

The bell sounder works fine if I go through the test steps in the manual. Not sure if there is a delay, I'll try again tomorrow, been trying for a while today so probably driving my wife and neighbours crazy.

Hi, should the external sounder go off instantly the alarm is activated. Today I returned home and my dog had set off the alarm. I have done a test to check that the sounders work, as per the operators manual, and it's all good. Then I set the alarm and opened the door, the internal sounder worked and the external strobe was flashing but the external sounder was not working?

Thanks for all the replies, I think I have the electrical ''knowledge'' to replace the battery.

Hi Chris, I realise your reluctance to advise on a system without seeing it. I have the texecom installation and owners manuals and it has the default engineers / user codes with it. What I'd like to know is how to input the engineers code. I am aware of the electrical hazards involved in replacing the battery. Any further guidance would be great.

Sorry guys I should have said the make, it is a Veritas 8, I have the engineers code in the installation manual as I was left with all the manuals, I never through out manuals, even after throwing gear away. How do you input the engineers code?

Hi guys, I need some help.
Over the past few days my ''unset'' light flashes continiously, also when I set the alarm when going out the normal slow internal beep beeps a lot faster.
I have looked at similar posts and they all seem to point towards a faulty battery. I have removed the fuse from my consumer unit and the alarm activated immediately. Could this still be a battery fault.
The alarm system was installed, by a local electrician, no longer trading, about 10 years ago.
Any help or advice would be great.

I'd be happier just buying a new PIR, I got the system fitted 15 years ago, so do I need to put in the engineer code, then turn off the 240 supply then change PIR?
