  1. Thanks all, will leave new battery in place so the board survives to protect another day ;o)
  2. Hi All, Think it's sorted of a fashion!!! Got back tonight to find that the alarm dead, as was the new battery I fitted ( Re-checked all the fuses, which all seemed okay, then took the main board off the fittings to check for any issues on the PCB. Found ANOTHER fuse hidden away that I'd not seen, checked that and sure enough it was blown!!! Luckily I'd got another fuse, so fitted that, but the alarm still bleeped 10 times (could that be because the battery is dead?) but has now stopped and the light on the front of the panel box is permanently flashing. If I disconnect the battery it goes on solid (again, therefore guessing that's because the battery is dead?). Will the battery get recharged by the system over time now that the mains power has been restored? If so, does anyone have any ideas as to how long it'll take?? Also, I'd like to add my thanks to all you helpful people that have taken time out to comment, make suggestions and help me out!!!
  3. That's great, thanks!!! So just to check, in order to "power down fully", disconnect the battery, pull out the isolating fuse tray linking to mains and presumably wait a minute or so, then put the battery back on, wait a minute and push the isolating fuse tray back in?
  4. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll give that a go. Need to try and find an installer manual first though, and work out how it's set-up with zones so I can re-configure it when it's reset.
  5. Hi All, Newby here! Hit a problem with my alarm system and after checking out some of the other posts on here thought I'd join up and ask all you helpful people given the responses that seem to get posted! I've got a Veritas R8 alarm in the house, the main box is under the stairs then there's a keypad in the kitchen to set/deactivate the alarm. All's been working fine (and I ALWAYS set the alarm - full in daytime and part at night) then I came to set it the other day and the alarm just beeped at me. I've had experience with other alarm systems, and have fitted Veritas alarms in the past, and I know to listen out for the pattern and you can usually detect the type of error and look this up/obtain advice on this basis. In this instance, the alarm unit beeped 10 times before pausing. I've had a look around on the net, and have found posts and comments by people that this tends to refer to a power issue. As established from the posts, it can often be either a battery fault or that one of the on-board fuses has blown (or both). I've checked the fuses and they're all fine, in addition I've bought a replacement battery and fitted this, which hasn't resolved the problem. We have not had a power cut (as a number of people have posted about being the cause of their faults) so I'm not sure if that is or isn't relevant. If anyone has any other advice/ideas as to what could have caused this and how to resolve the problem, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all!!! J
