  1. If they jump up on windowsills etc within 2 metres of the pir then false alarms will occur. Pet sensors do not cure all ills (salesmen/ surveyors) will say otherwise.

If the client absolutley wants the pets to have free roam then contacts on all perimeter doors/ windows and then confirmedl intervention visual or acoustic via the ARC? Lots of money.

It's a compromise. I would rather if they had pets then focus on a decent security system and keep the pets in the kitchen.

  2. The NAPCO thing is a form of ACE so compliant in my eyes to set/ unset? Being able to tell the state of the system through a 3rd party app is something you need to ask NSI?

A lot of things are determined by whether it is for insurance/ police response etc.

  3. Bell squark/ strobe flash on set is ok according to NSI as it is just a momentary indication. There was a time when this was interpreted as not acceptable, but then apparently NSI said it was ok.

    All about interpretation.

You can tell the outside world that you have set the alarm with a bell chirp or strobe on set, but it has to be momentary. Strange though that keypads have to shut down so as to not show armed state, according to NSI, but it's acceptable to tell everybody around the area with a bell chirp/ strobe flash that you have just armed ( or not, more to the point) the alarm system.

As with most things in our industry, not thought through.

  4. I wondered if anyone from Menvier would pick this up? Have had another 3 sites in the last week random tampers on single ccts.

Have knocked Menvier on the head, I cannot see how a company can sustain this level of callouts for seemingly random tamper conditions. Have moved over to Texecom. Seems the most logical panel to upgrade Menvier with.

Many thanks for the interest and replies

  5. Hi

Joined a company that mostly use Menvier TS and MSeries. Have never seen so many random tamper faults for no reason. Pirs, Dualtecs , contacts, vipers, wired double pole or EOL. Use same devices on Scan/ Texecom products, same installers etc no issues. I have had 4 random tamper faults this week, different sites, range of devices etc, but Menvier panel.

    Anything I need to know?

  6. Either omit the extra circuit through the user mode when setting ( an extra few seconds/  key presses, instructions in the user manual) or get a company to program the extra circuit into the ' part set' mode so the extra circuit is isolated automatically.

Even if you have the eng manual, you can run the risk of isolating circuits without realising, and rendering the entire system useless.

If you rely on the system for insurance purposes, any alterations need to be documented by a certified eng/ company.

  7. Hi all,

Have done this once myself on a new system I fitted a few months ago, the manual is ok on digi programming to an ARC but not on SMS texting, a bit confusing, got it working though somehow. But, now have a 'modem fault' coming up on another installation fitted by a colleague. I have been through the programming and all seems ok. Have 50v, tone ok etc. As soon as we enable the ARC/ SMS it goes into modem fault. Wired correctly.  Digi just doesn't 'seize' the line on testing outputs, no led etc. Didn't have time to clean start, and start again from scratch.

I have 25 years in the game so I kid myself I know what I'm doing, But...

It must be simple and will kick myself

    Anybody else had this fault?

Will call Pyronix in the morning, wondering if this is something people have seen before?

    kind regards

    Mark
