Hi,
Great to have replies, and hear from others, who may be getting to my age!
I recall the SAB I first used was a 12v dry battery, called a GI470 ( I think) Crompton, wax coated, with two brass screw terminals on top, the battery was the size of the shelf, (Similar size to our 7Ah now) and the module was fitted to the top of the battery with the brass nuts, with a ATS on the front of the module, (more a cct board with a relay and microswitch) no rear tamper, no strobe, just the old style Friedland grey bell.
I recall one of my first jobs as an apprentice was cleaning down old rusty bell boxes, priming and painting, in those days the signalling and control eq was all rented, luckily I soon moved onto tube and wire frames!! what fun they were!
Old alarm boy, started out from school as a trainee alarm engineer with an NSCIA company, installing the 41a (has anyone heard of that panel) key operated, single zone, shunt lock etc well made and simple,
