I don't recommend using any ISP provided router if your tech savvy enough to manage your own.

Yes stuff needs updating but more likely it will be discontinued or never done.

Auto firmware updates could be an option but that would be undesirable solution IMO. What's to say that isn't exploited in the future somehow, or it borks up and bricks the device at a time of need.

You say "smart security" but any internet connected device has a risk and if your device is hosting a service you will be more at risk.

Issue is it costs money for this stuff but people want those free appz.

only safe system is a closed system... plus, the smarter technology is, the more likely it'll mess up...

  2. from what a remember, scanny 9800 doesn't have an onboard buzzer..... i get this all the time... best thing is to shut all doors in house, walk around to see where noise loudest...due to frequency of beeps, it can throw its location around a bit... could be something in cupboard with scanny panel...but if you downpower the panel and leave it a while, and you still get chirrping, it definately is not the panel..

Good for selling CCTV and also recommend drive bollards if they have keyless. I wouldn't have one, don't do contactless cards either.

Usually recommend putting keys in fridge, microwave could cause a pop if switched on for some strange reason.

Hard drive antistatic bags work ok for contactless cards and light sets of keys.

Even without keys in range some cars will disappear if targeted before hand and no physical security.

a thief can use a booster, to boost signal for keys, where ever they are in the house..

Thanks for confirming my doubt about a Solar Sounder.  I am certainly not a pro but I studied electrical engineering yonks ago.  My house has been revamped; new windows / doors,  new plaster new and paint.  Hence reluctance and difficulty running wires from Panel to Attic / Sounder.  Mains is present in Attic and it would be great to use that in a Sounder.

Wireless Mains Powered External Sounder :

I have found such a Sounder online Visonic 0-101608 MCS-730 Wireless Mains Powered External Sounder, Two-way, Fully Wireless Outdoor Siren. The MCS-730 AC comes complete with a 9V AC transformer, being mains powered the sounder offers increased time between battery changes.  Very good outdoor rating IP55. 2 diversity antenna.  Could this meet with my requirement of fully wireless detectors and wireless 2 way signalling in Sounder with Mains supply - easily available in attic.   Question is to select the remaining system.  In Which magazine, Visonic systems do not get a great review.

What I want is Good quality alarm system for a standard 3 bed 2 storey S/D (~90m2) - Wireless detectors and Mains power Sounder as described.  Non subscription app for control.  DIY installation possible.  Is it permitted for this community to make specific recommendations.  If not can anyone make suggestions about where or what to search for.  Thanks a lot .

Ooooo not had good experiances with visonic stuff personally... problem with non-sub app is a possible lack of security... security features on an app costs money- what with secure servers etc.. no manafacturer will give that away for free..

  5. install pyronix enforcer in a cupboard, plug it in using a 3 pin plug. fit the wireless sab outside, wherever is easiest, remember that you will need to get back up to the bell every year or two(dependant on single/dual frequency) to replace battery. add wireless arming stations and detection devices to suit.. current enforcers have wifi built in, so you can access cloud via home wifi and pyronix cloud app. (recomend a UPS for the wifi router in ccase of power cut..). i personally prefer a pyronix 46 and wireless zem setup...

  6. can be a dodgy transformer or high resistance short...you'd need to check the voltage across 12v/0v aux.. try disconnecting all the 12v/0v terminals and checking 12v/0v aux voltages again, if it goes back to the normal 13.5-ishV, then its likely something wired in causing the issue. add a pair of 12v/0v at a time to see if values change..

  7. The enforcer is not designed to use 4 zems for wired circuits.... 4 zems with wired circuits on a standard wired castle panel would normally require additional power supplies as well! It even states in the install manual, on page 50 that hardwired inputs require an additional power supply...
