That would seriously put me off even if I thought I would be the ideal candidate.
We all know the **** candidates will apply anyway but you might risk putting good ones off. I'd personally delete it.
To me it suggests, 'we don't have time to train you, you won't get any support, you'll be out on your **** within 5 days,' even if it isn't true.
Also is it just me that gets annoyed with the creeping US use of the word 'install' in place of 'installer'..?I see what you mean, i think your right good point. Thanks for the feedback its very helpful.

We have an exciting opportunity available for a security install engineer to join our expanding team. The ideal applicant is an engineer looking to further their development. Our available position would ideally suit someone looking for a gradual progression to supervisor as we continue to grow, however we are happy to receive interest from install engineers as well.
We are a small company based in Essex looking for a committed person for a long term placement.
We work throughout the South East but are looking for applicants in or around the Kent area. We will not rule out suitable applicants outside of this area.
Experience
The right person should have enough experience to be out on the road within a week. Must have experience installing intruder, (minimum 2 years not including any training period or apprenticeship), and a good knowledge of current regs and best practices.
Applicants should also be able to install CCTV and Access control when needed.
A working knowledge of Galaxy is essential and ideally experienced with Castle, Menvier and Texecom. Training can be provided to the right person for the latter.
Must be able to install, Handover and Train customers to a high standard
Must be self-motivated and able to work alone or as part of a team.
Should have excellent communication skills both spoken and written and have good customer relation skills.
Asbestos awareness, IPAF, CSCS preferred but not essential
Duties would include
Planning and running jobs of various sizes and disciplines
Overseeing works carried out by core and subcontract staff during busy periods
Onsite training and coaching of company apprentices/Trainees
Completing regular H&S tasks to assist with company H&S obligations for which full training will be provided

Rshaw, fair enough good to hear your being looked after. Do you know anyone looking down your way?
-
RSHAW. Will you be applying then?
-
I can see where your coming from ref the call out guys but the position will definitely have no call out. If it was ever to change or if we needed help with call out we would ask and take no for an answer. That's the beauty of a small firm I guess staff are respected and appreciated, not just a number.
RSHAW if you don't mind me asking, what's your take on the offered package?
-
I would estimate overtime could be in the region of 10K based on a 26k basic if it was wanted.

Afternoon all, thanks for the feedback. We tried to be clear in our advert exactly what would be expected so not to sell the position as something it is not. We are keen to not waste peoples time but perhaps we would have been better to explain that although the supervisor aspects of the role are accurate it would only be a small part of the role increasing in line with company growth as could wages inline with this.
Maybe competent install engineer looking to take the next step in their career would have been a better job role title/way of approaching it. What do you think?
FYI The position does not include call out.

Hello all, i must confess i have viewed this forum/site a few times but i'm only just joining. Slap on the wrist!
I am the CO owner of RDS Security Systems Ltd. Based in Essex working all over the south east. We have only been trading for a little over a year and a half but we are loving being self employed, In charge of your own destiny and all of that!
We consider ourselves to be very professional and high quality installers. Both myself and my business partner were apprentices many years ago and have risen through the ranks so to speak until eventually we decided to go it alone. The wife thought it was mad but actually its working out quite nicely.
We have an apprentice and a trainee and we are on the lookout for another engineer/supervisor and another apprentice.
Anyway, just wanted to say hi

Hi Paul, are you still looking? We are based in Essex.
