Alien DVR 654K - cannot stop beeping following power cut

Recommended Posts

If it makes lots of noise on power up it will be the Hard disk.

If the hard disk does not spin up it will possibly be that the power supply is not giving enough power. Does the power light flicker on the external power supply or on the front of the unit? (if the mains supply goes directly in the back of the unit).

If you can access the menu's after booting up - Just look in the log. I'm not familiar with the Alien - But all these things log faults and alarms...etc.

Not really

Common for fan to make the noise

If hard disk doesnt spin up common for hd failure rather than PSU

All vague unless you test it all of course , you don't need logs and menus to test that stuff

Yep agreed, would all depend how a drive fails as to any audio clues like that.

Silent types of failure are probably likely than the more obvious mechanical ones.

Fans especially the smaller ones in these units are more likely for bearing to let go.

If the OP isn't sure how to check what the fault is probably a could idea to get the installer back.

OK. The original post was almost totally lacking in any detail.

Like going to the doctor and saying; "Something's wrong with me Doc. It hurts somewhere" and that's it.

You ok yeah? Lol
