Sideshow
Hi, After some help. I have 10 year old Eurosec alarm system, and when i went to change the internal battery i noticed a loose Blue wire, which i believe is the Trigger wire from the external alarm?. Any idea were this should connect to? I have also noticed that the external alarm has stopped working.

PeterJames
There are probably many wires that are not used inside a control panel do a bell test if it works then its not a bell wire. Then set it if it sets then its likely not a wire in use
sixwheeledbeast
I agree with PJ, was it stripped back as if it should be terminated somewhere?

If you want to keep your system operational I do hope you change your battery more often than once every 10years

james.wilson
Id say every 5 years is fine. Better to replace before panels report it to prevent damage but modern panels seem to do better with failed battery's than the old dumb stuff 1 1 Quote securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount. But if not it can destroy the charging circuit. Sideshow
Forgot to mention the blue was stripped back as though it should be terminated somewhere. Thanks for the replies so far. Going to try this Troubleshooting : External Sounder does not sound Action : Use a multimeter or small buzzer across the Bell +&- terminals to determine if the control panel is triggering the bell. If all is O.K check the operation of the sounder by wiring it to the system battery.

Sideshow
Yes the external Bell test worked, but the original fault is still apparent that if the system is triggered the external alarm does not sound.
james.wilson
thats not a wiring issue then, maybe programming, how are you testing it, ie what are you doing to cause a full alarm. What happened when you did the bell test? Quote securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount. Sideshow
To do the Bell Test i entered the User code and pressed 9, as per the Eurosec User manual page 19. The bell test worked. Not sure what else it could be? is it worth resetting the whole system if this is possible?
james.wilson
When you did the bell test did you check the external bell or stay by the keypad and heard the internal bell? Sideshow
Definitely checked and heard the outside bell
james.wilson
Just now, Sideshow said: Definitely checked and heard the outside bell Ok so how did you activate it. IIRC on the eurosec the bell can be delayed on certain activations, ie timeout. kwc
Set the system and trip a NON exit entry zone. This should sound the bell. if working on bell test then can only be there is a bell delay set or tripping an entry timed zone and not waiting until full entry time has expired. You need to check the zine you trigger is programmed as a 12hr (ie instant alarm on zone) failing that press & hold 1 & 3 on the remote keypad to activate the panic, this will give you a full alarm condition
