MrHappy
Its all bollocks, Tat like Yale or ADE sell very well & do it outside of any EN std ? the 3rd biggest economy in Europe is Britain Britain is a crime ridden crap hole & probably the largest world market for domestic alarms ? What European brands exist in the UK, Bosch / Siemens ? Neither is major play within the UK or Europe & I assume are more interested in the US market ? Meh... datadiffusion
Interesting document but pretty much what I expected, do testing in UK as before but get product stamped at next nearest English speaking EU fweind. Now, off topic.... Nah Logan people are just buying Nest / ring / ArgosChinkTat plug-n-pray 'home monitoring' 'solutions' now. Buy it, plug it in on lounge table Forget you are paying £2.99 a month for 10 years Send heartwarming footage of cat / dog / toddler captured by tat 'burgling' that gets 10k retweets c/w brand name of tat I see zero future for someone trying to start a traditional alarm business now unless they are b2b at a corporate level, which of course you'll not get easily as a OMB new starter now (or then without some serious contacts). And even then Norms tales of Gunnebo are slightly surprising to me. etc... I don't even see a future for older Yale type products* for much longer. Either that or they will be self-promoted in the field as 'semi-pro alarm kit' *And nor do Yale - looks like they have just launched a le-sucre like model called 'Sync'.... I wonder if they will simply ditch the 'traditional' range. TBF Can't really blame them, how can you a £700 CCTV installation complete with wires and a big black box vs. 2 x £159 wireless Nest cams back to back with nearest 13A socket... I've even seen some new houses with upper floor USB 13A sockets in slightly odd places I am certain to to allow easy and fairly neat wifi cam installs. datadiffusion
Don't get me wrong I did my first few installs for the price of a pint + equipment, but I literally do mean the first few. And even then usually as an add on to my own electrical work at full price. (Shortly after I mostly worked for the same contractor anyway for a few years.)
