Recommended Posts

Im not sure if this counts to be in the vintage fire and security discussion

I have installed this on my shed.  I believe it was made in 1994

I've got a completely Analogue door code system that came out of the Concorde shed at Filton, no keypad but that's just 10 individually wired pushbuttons.

I'll probably let you have it when I dig it out!

So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands

The airport itself closed to the public around 2008 I think, in the middle of a refit! It only hosted a few flights to Newquay etc... in the end

most were just 'internal' flights for the Airbus staff.

Airbus are still there but BAE pulled out as did all remaining airline related industry.

They landed the last flying concorde for a museum that was actually only recently completed (and is now expanding)

Then the runway was indelibly closed by being split in half for a new road and housing developement.

Its a joke though as the surviving 'Bristol' airport is closer to WsM and is the only large airport in the country with no trains and no dual carriageway to get to it.

Filton should always have been the one to be the main one, it's got a railway running though (close to mainline as well) and a dual carriageway A38 right to the centre!
