Eugene's DIY Den
I have setup a wireless PIR and as recommended, added it into a point. How do I now assign it to a zone? Eugene's DIY Den
...and secondly if I have a zone configured as a non-EOL type (two wired PIRs on it currently), can I add a wireless PIR to that zone? james.wilson
You don't if it's a point assign point options If you assign as a zone then do that but it's one or the other Points you can have 10 on a zone each identified individually Quote securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount. Eugene's DIY Den
It's assigned to/into/as a Point. The blurb that came with the sensor suggested "it would be best to add and ID your RF-PIR's (sic) into Points (of which there are 40) first before you assign them to zones". Neither the manual for the panel nor the PIR manual show how to do this. Edited August 10, 2019 by Eugene's DIY Den Quote Talking Tools, a Facebook group for discussing anything tool/DIY related. I selected ADD&Id:RF Points from the ADD & ID RF Devices menu and it scanned and found the device and it now has an RF ID (told me to close the tamper also which I did). Is there another sub option in that menu where it asks what zone to assign to? Quote Talking Tools, a Facebook group for discussing anything tool/DIY related. You need scroll until it says add to point number /zone from memory I only done this to a couple of sites because customer wanted it all common names
james.wilson
It sounds like you added it to a point. You cannot also use that zone if using points. Just change the point options for that device as if it was a zone 1 Quote securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount. The mystery is how to add it to a zone. James Wilson above suggests it can be a point or a zone but not both, but the instructions suggest that points can be added to zones. Maybe that's just an error. They also say that the reason for this is to conserve zones, suggesting that each added RF device would be on a separate zone. However later they say the device can be on any of the 70 zones (it doesn't have to be one of the physical 10 zones on an unexpanded panel). They talk about "mapping" onto zones, but there's no mention of this in the installation manual (only mapping outputs). I know I can have separate zones for wired and wireless PIRs, but I'd like to keep them together) and secondly if I add a second PIR, how can the two PIRs be grouped together as a single zone? james.wilson
Your confusing what zones are imo If your using points 50 to 59 then you can't use zone 5 Once all your zones and points are running correctly you will use the point/zone options per device to remove from part set a and b. You don't 'map' anything Quote securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount. You can't have two devices on one one zone or point , each device has to have its own zone or point If you mean can you have a wireless PIR on a wired zone like zone 1 onboard it can be wireless instead Yes you can turn them off, but that you can do with part set A or B or even setting zones up on blocks if you have other uses Just add all your devices and those pirs you want to exclude on part set a just select that option in each point or zone and it won't arm on part set Edited August 11, 2019 by al-yeti
Eugene's DIY Den
Ok, I sort of understand this. I think I'll just add the two PIRs in the zone space above the 10 hardwireable zones (keeping the remaining unconnected ones as spares). So presumably once the PIRs are setup as "logical"/wireless zones, I can walk test them? Also what's the advantage of using points rather than zones? Eugene's DIY Den
Set the PIR up on a zone an excluded it from my part sets, so all's well. Thanks for the help! james.wilson
Points save using real zones. Irish fw is different to UK but UK allows zones to be used with rf even if expanders are not connected Quote securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
