eBay tat roundup - the best and worst from the 'bay

Recommended Posts

False business contact details too

Interesting items well done, what was the purpose of the Gent 'keyswitch interface', was it so that only when 3 fire marshalls agreed could the unit be reset remotely etc... that kind of thing?

It's Saturday, it's 9pm, it's time for... Timmy Westwood's Alarm Roundup!

Now, is this actually a whole panel in a double gang plate, a bit like the A1 2-zoner that fitted entirely within a thick 2 gang faceplate, or just a very old skool keypad requiring 2 x 8 cores to connect? I think we should be told. Wonder what Kim is up to these days?

Quite a long time, I remember buying one of these from this exact same seller 10 years ago. Maybe more.

Fair price for Verisure crap, I assume this is utterly worthless even in the hands of the Verisure 'engineer'.

THRILL! To a call on your yellowed GEC-Plessey secretary intercom-phone system! WOW! To a call costing you 80p a minute (higher charges apply within the M25) in your Rover 825 Vitesse Fastback! SWOON! As you relax watching Eldorado in your Parker Knoll to yet another f**king call from that idiot Geralds faulty 'cordless' A1 alarm system....

A genuine fair price for an interesting bit of kit - however, 'will fit most alarm systems' is probably only true if they have an analyser function I suspect? I know SPC do as do older Scanny / Menvier but IIRC there is some oddity that this is available to be chosen on expander zones but doesn't work.

I think the last ever Regalsafe panels (although the name seems to live on overseas, or did, on some Menvier kit) RS125 and RS150 were the only ones to support RS232 :)

Oh nothing, I don't bother with these sorts, I can see the way it would go. The fact he even wants £300 says it all.

I know it's old tat but you would AT LEAST separate it into brands, no-one is going to want all those at once.

Or he's in church staring at ceiling praying you stop doing his head in?

Another dreamer... a shame as that battery internal speaker, which only ever worked with that panel, was quite quickly discontinued IIRC. I'll stop at using the word 'rare' though.

I also seem to remember the size of it is due to it taking about 20 D cells ;)

"Cost a lot when installed". Yeah, well my 1992 Astra was £10500 at the time, however...

Oddly they still do a Homelink 75 like system, the i-On 40 Style, which obviously supports all the latest wireless sirens etc... and has cloud. Never seen one in the wild.

a common use would be a 24hr circuit on say a wine / spirit store in the cellar in public house

anyone opening the door would set the alarm off, a zone omit module would permit authorised people to use set the 24hr circuit & access the store.

There a 2 types, one with key on the front & one controlled by an external switch normally a 5 lever chubb lock in the door

The common method was contact on the door with cc wiring inside under hardboard, operating the chubb lock turned off of the circuit secure the lock on the door  turned the alarm back on
