I love eurobells i have seen the modern alarm branded ones.  I call them a bottle top bellbox

when the mk3 astra was new back in the early 1990's

I recall seeing a black modern alarms car which had the vauxhall badge on the bonnet replaced with their own 6 links of chain like the bell box...

They actually used to look quite cool, used to be another firm in Wales called Eagle. They used black estate cars as well, had a large golden eagle sprayed across the bonnet, the bell boxes had an eagle in flight across the front. Looked really good, sadly not seen one for years.

That's cool, but it was like a picture of an eagle that was sprayed on the bonnet. Looked like it was hunting with it's legs extended, talons out and just about to grab something.

Hard to explain without you actually seeing it.

Sorry mate, don't get the reference.

for a phoenix...

Phoenix or Eagle, it's still a cool design.

Only picture I could find like it was on Getty images & I'm buggered if I'm going to sign up for a monthly subscription just to download one picture.

I had a letter from Modern telling me they weren't interested in even interviewing me, at the time I had city and guilds electrical installation and an nd in electronics. I'd actually only written to them in the unlikely event I wasn't able to go on to do the HND, so wasn't bothered. They used to have quite a cool looking office in Bristol.

Still, what happened to them eh?

Twas a joke re. Modern; but the office went shortly after the merger, I think the building is still there though, which is never guaranteed in Bristol these days. Never thought I would see whole estates

I remember being built long since demolished, like the UPS distribution centre built late 80s and all the light industrial units at Longwell Green built early 90s and already flattened for shops and housing.

Not sure if Royal Mail occupied the old Modern office for a while?

Thorn used to be 2 doors down from the Gardtec later Risco trade counter, both obvs long gone.

Chubb last time I looked had moved out to Avonmouth, nearer to us.

I did some work on Bristol Court building a while ago, had the misfortune to stay in the local PI.

Exactly, PI are usually OK and I stay in them a lot but I popped my head into this one and it was just a bit 'grim'

By chance I received a text from the unit I installed in the basement this morning saying they'd had a mains fail.
