Tone Testers

Recommended Posts

On small installs it's not too much of a problem doing it the old way but on bigger stuff it used to be a pain.

Well the Ideal abs arrived and have to say: I'm totally underwhelmed with it, nothing like Ideal stuff I've used in the past. This feels cheap & nasty, more like a kids toy to be honest.

The tone generator or thrower as they call it uses a non standard battery which will be a pain, luckily the seller put new batteries in so I was able to try it out.

Definitely not impressed, you have to be almost on top of the cable to be able to use the tracer. Not had a chance to try the butt test side yet but will give it a try on the weekend and hope that works better.

what tat have you bought ? (link?)

Hey Mr H, Don't have a link for it unfortunately but it's the ideal abs tone thrower and probe. It was only a cheap thing where I bought it but apparently they're normally about £70, so would have expected more.

Probably something else where production has been transferred to Asia.

Hi Al: I used to use ideal testers and never had a problem with them, but this is nowhere like them.

Yes mate, it's blue in colour.
