Test (Butt) phone

Recommended Posts

I'd say test phones are not needed anymore and even less so going forward. Was useful in the old days I haven't carried one in years. Downside is I need to workout what's going in its cutout place in the case

You can normally hear adsl on the line, don't see why having a handset that does an alarm helps ?

No idea Mr H, but you know what BT are like: Their kit, their rules.

Stop being so posh James, just hang your phone off a D ring on your Toolbag like the rest of us .

I've not carried a test phone for years but occasional get caught out when needing to program a Pyronix Vocaliser or when there has been a fault on the BT line. Worth having even in 2019 imo. Think ill get one <_<

just pick one up cheaply from ebay... I'd not pay £100 for one.

The only reason I have one was to be sure we it was'nt our kit that was faulty be telling the sub to get the line fixed

They can still come in handy at times, especially if you install telephone extensions as well or for quick testing when you run a line from the master to some out of the way cupboard with the panel in.
