Carlos Arruda
Hi all. I have a friend who has a Visonic GE350-ATS4 installed in his house. The system has worked flawlessly for the past 2 years but now it has develop this beep every minute. Now, I have never done security alarms, my background is fire alarms and I'm an electrician by trade. As a very good friend of mine I decided to look into this issue. Sadly, he does not has the manual. Anyone knows what this beep refers to or where can I find the manual? A google search was not productive. Many thanks. Carlos Arruda
Fire alarm is a completely independent system. Thanks

Albert I believe the GE350 is refernece to GSM module. What is the panel? If you don't know look here and see if you can recognise it? You should see a warning indication on the panel, might be low batt.
Carlos Arruda
You are correct. I mistakenly took the GSM module model instead. The unit is a Visonic Powermax Express. Thanks.
Carlos Arruda
Sorry. Missed the bit you said about low batteries. These have all been changed recently due to issue but error still being reported by system. Cheers.
james.wilson
the point at the start was check for a battery powered smoke detector not on the alarm. Where is the beep coming from? Carlos Arruda
The beep is coming from the main console. There's no smoke detectors on this unit. The existing smoke/heat detectors are on a different system. Cheers.
PeterJames
What sort of a beep is it? is it like a chirp or is it a beeeep?
Carlos Arruda
Chirp I would say.
PeterJames
Check the batteries in your smoke detectors, check your drawers and cupboard close to the alarm panel for smoke detectors with low batteries
norman
Sheesh! 4 hours ago, lymebayalarms said: ...come on, we have all fallen for it right! Oh yes. Carlos, check for any devices (usually smokes) that may be reporting low battery, I've also had phone handsets being mistaken for the alarm. james.wilson
As above its probably another device nothing to do with the intruder alarm Quote securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount. Carlos Arruda
Guys, again, there are no smoke detectors connected to the intruder alarm. I shall do a run on all PIR and door sensors. Cheers.
norman
Carlos, again you have missed the point, they won't be connected, they will be independent and have a low battery. Quote Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
Carlos Arruda
Ok, sorry. But the smoke detectors on the property are hardwired on a Bi-Wire installation. They do not use batteries of any kind. Thanks.

Carlos Arruda
Hi Norman. The chirp sound is coming from the intruder alarm panel, not from the smoke detector! "Why do smoke alarms chirp intermittently?" I apologise if I am still missing the point. Cheers.
norman
It would be the first thing I checked before i went on a wild goose chase, happens so often and the chirp location is very deceiving ime. If your certain you have ruled that out then great. Quote Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

Then it's 100% the alarm, what model Visonic is it? TBH when was it last serviced? If your mate has you in to take a look, i'd say a long time ago. Go get yourself some CR123's for the DT's and (CR2's?) for the door contacts and replace all batts. That should cure the noise, also another thing is it monitored? (phone line) because if it doesn't see the line it will give you a auible warning.
Carlos Arruda
Visonic Powermax Express. They paid £699 for the entire system to be installed 2 years ago and were paying £30.00 per month maintenance but the company was local and has now gone out of business. There's a SIM card on the GSM module that was SUPPOSE to link to the police (according to the installer, I personally much doubt this as there has been two instances of alarm triggered and no one showed up). I might have to get a PASYOUGO SIM card and have configured. Cheers.
