Texecom Premier 48 Vs Premier Elite 48

Morning All,

First post here so please be gentle.

I installed my Tex Premier 48 a few years back - not in the trade but am an engineer and our company does do security but not a Texecom specialist.

The panel is a v9 and i have a plan to add a few more tricks to its bag which got me looking. I see that the panels are now called Premier Elite 48 but cannot for the life of me find a comparison / difference between the two. is it just firmware ? I have the relevant USB and flasher lead to perform an upgrade and access to the Texecom website to get the new firmware.

My real question is can i upgrade my prem 48 v9.00 to a prem elite 48 v3.00?

Failing that is there any mileage in upgrading it to v11 ( which i think was the last release) or should I just bite the bullet and swap out the PCB for an Elite version?

cheers in advance

Not sure if Adrian comments on Public but I'm sure he would agree worth the upgrade - the Elites can do quite a bit more and are still getting updates.

The old board will be stuck at the last version forever.

That said, there is only a reason to upgrade if you want to do something elite specific I guess, i,e. add a ComWifi etc...?

So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands

The Premier & Elite are completely different animals. Both hardware and software are different. Also the power supply, so if you are going to swap it out, you will need to change everything not just the PCB. If you can detail what you are thinking of adding to the system you can be better guided.

It is not possible to flash a Premier with Elite firmware, different micro processor.

Good knowledge  - thanks !!!

I already have com IP but its a bit creaky and the app has never really performed well - coupled with the fact that sky only do dynamic public IPs, ddns is needed and that is a pain too.

I'll consider tinkering around again - I saw that v11 had a stability fix for the com IP so may just go for that. - having said that I cant find it on the texe website. Is there an archive of these older firmware's available?

The other thing is that i need a wireless solution for a garage and shed.

If this were you  -wold you swap out or upgrade ? Perhaps i just like the idea of "latest and greatest" firmware.

cheers

Yes, if it was my own system I would definitely upgrade, and also the new panel will have a more efficient switched mode PSU AFAIK.

Adrian will confirm but isn't Ricochet easier to manage with the Elite panels?

Will do - v4.05 software out yesterday as it happens!

Quite a few useful updates in there too, some of which will benefit existing systems.

Fair play to Eaton they are obviously getting people doing things other than prepare for redundancy...

Yes it is, it also allows use of more of the later device types, for example, sounders, external PIR, Internal Dualtech, smopke detector and the like are not supported pre elite.
