ElecTech
I've had mixed feedback on what the best cabling for a RS485 line.. I'd say the risk of noise induction is medium on the site being installer and I'd like to know what is best to use. I've been told unshielded CAT5e by tech guys but curious what installers say... He said there is an on going argument about shielding weakens the signals but is to be used in harsh environments. Thanks...

ElecTech
Does beldon hold the same properties as cat5 to use it in a RS485 issue free?
james.wilson
I wouldn't use cat5. But I would go with what the manufacturers recommend Quote securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount. sixwheeledbeast
Use what the manufacturers recommend. I agree, would use Belden for RS485, that's what it's designed for.
Flossyrockstar
Beldon if the panel/controller has no opto isolation like the Northern/Honeywell N1000 II's and IV's and the new (for me ) net axs panel, also the RBH Axiom stuff between the NC 100's and RC2's, ACT recommend UTP, so it all depends on which system your fitting. breff
Beldon is the recomended, cat5 is ok though. Given a choice I would use Beldon Quote The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct! (Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)
